Just a warning, these "flushable" wipes aren't very flushable. If you want a clean arse get a bidet.

    • +12

But it sure beats gum tree bark, don't it Blinky?

    • +1

      or garden hose.

    • If you want a clean arse get a bidet.

How much does Bidet charge to wipe your bum ?

    • they clog up sewers so avoid

i find a little hand water gun great if you don't want the expense of a bidet

    • I have a bidet installed. only issue is the bidet has really cold water coming out. not good for number 2s on winter mornings

  • +26

They aren't 'free' when millions of dollars of your taxes are spent unblocking sewer pipes.

Should be an ozb banned item like laser pointers etc.

    • +12

These do far more damage to sewer pipes than laser pointers.

      • +1

Who flushes laser pointers down the toilet. They should be discarded in authorised laser disposal sites

    • +8

Totally agree. Companies who act irreponsibly by selling these products must be held to account. They must be forced to pay to clean up blockage caused by their products.

    • +4

They aren't free when you block your own sewer and have to have a plumber come out with a snake either.

  • +5

    What a s*it offer

  • +15

great way to trash our environment, waste resources & clog your sewerage lines resulting in expensive plumbing costs….

  • +7

Check out the comments of a previous deal, 'flushable' wipes will block sewerage systems. We shouldn't be supporting products that result in huge plumbing bills.

  • +2

    Well, that escalated quickly!

  • -1

Got mine! Yesterday. Was targeted. I wonder if I can get this again today

  • +8

Agree with the rest of the comments. This product will block your plumbing pipes.

    • +1

From experience or just hopping on the bandwagon here ?

      • Bah…🐑

      • +8

You don't need to have it happen to you personally.
Turn on the news and watch companies like sydney water spending millions of dollars pulling huge disgusting craneloads of these things out of pipes all year round.

        • -5

It's the hypocrisy of some here. They have no issue using plastic bags all the time, yet froth at the mouth in this thread.

      • -6

Sounds like the bandwagon, never had blocked pipes , have flushed wipes for a while.

      • Bandwagon is quite full around here.

  • +13

I am only neg the deal/product not the poster. Do not support the 'flushable' wipes. If you happen to get one of these samples anyway put the wipe in the sanitary bin or the next bin available.

    • +3

But you could use it like a normal non-flushable wipes (which from what I can read, these are).

      • That's exactly what I would do with them.

  • +6

Everyone is buying these flushable wipes,
but here's a clip on how they aren't flushable:
Adam Ruins Everything - Why Flushable Wipes Aren't Flushable

Before this crisis came along, the problem was products with plastic microbeads, which were too small for our sewage systems to filter out, flooding our oceans and water systems with plastic:
Coles, Woolworths pledge to remove products containing plastic microbeads

  • +1

    Are these wipes Benson approved?

  • +15
  • -2

    so many butthurt people

    • Nah mate, it's good the issue was highlighted. These tissues should only be disposed of in the bin.

  • Wonder if they can be used as baby wipes

    • sure why not

    • +1

I don't know, these almost break in the hand and are useless in my opinion.

  • +3

A kitten is flushable but doesn't mean you should flush one.

But seriously, these "flushable" wipes don't break down very easily and are a menace to public utilities due to the possibility of clogging drains and pipes.

I'd support an ozbargain ban for this type of product.

    • -1

I'd support an ozbargain ban for this type of product.

Maybe there should just be "Do not Flush" or "Free Plumber's Bill if you flush" disclaimer?

    • Thanks for your insight, but it's already been said a dozen times.

  • +2

    Shouldn't Kleenex be held responsible?

Why are they allowed to put flushable on the product when technically it's not safe to?

  • +1

people who use these should flush themselves down the crapper.

  • +5
  • +5

    This isn't flushable

  • +5

Agree with other comments, these products cause huge damage to the sewage system and should not be marketed, sold or given away. If you do get these, please put them in a bin and don't flush them down the toilet.

  • I use these for wiping other parts of my body, like my face. And then I put them in the rubbish bin.

Very handy if you feel lazy and need to wash your face; I would never actually buy them.

    • There's another product that does that. They're called "wipes"

      • +3

But this is a free sample.

      • As opposed to this product called "Wipes"?

  • +1

I hate how they insist on sticking with their "flushable" label just to try create another niche market. This labeling claim really should be made illegal because it gives a false impression that our sewage system can handle them. If you want sell wipes, just sell them as wipes that you throw in the bin and leave it at that.

  • +2

Absolutely terrible for the environment and the cause of fatbergs. They should be banned instead.

  • Thanks OP!

  • +2

May be financially free, but definitely not environmentally free.

  • +1

    Thanks.

I'll be using these, and putting them in the bin.

  • +1

Harmful to the environment and sewerage systems.

  • -4

I'm getting these just so I can flush them all down the toilet at once

  • +2

A container of water with your regular tp works just the same. Without all the sewerage issues.

Why so many tree huggers on ozb, it is the councils job to fix the drains not us, we pay them good for it, im flushing mine down the toilet coz it is convenient and i can

    • it is the councils job to fix the drains not us, we pay them good for it, im flushing mine down the toilet coz it is convenient and i can

If you keep flushing it down the toilet, it'll eventually clog your toilet up too..

    • Someone doesn't understand where the council gets their money from.

  • +1

Agree with above comments that these shouldn't be flushed, but no reason why you can't use it and dispose of them in the bin.

  • +1

    Bottom end of the market

  • Yet another product that should be phased out, should bring in the hose like they have in SE Asia!

  • You should have called them baby wipes to avoid all the negs. It is common sense not to flush them unless you lack brain.

  • If you look at the Kleenex Cottonelle website, they are spruiking that they are better than previous "flushable" wipes because they are paper-based.
    https://www.kleenex-cottonelle.com.au/flushability/

    Still wouldn't flush 'em, but.

  • +1

Needed a comment to neg. Wet toilet paper is cheaper and better.
