170

Cheap skate-style bike helmet and choose from Baby Blue, Orange, Red (call for availability) or Black. Red might help you to go faster but Orange (plus its cheap-looking style) tells everyone on the road that you are an OzBargainer. It's on sale for $9.99 plus delivery. Posting to Sydney is ~$9. However Reid Cycles also have free shipping for orders > $50.

Edit: Appears to be part of Reid Cycles' Click Frenzy sale that ends tomorrow. Ladies Vintage Classic Singlespeed $149 delivered deal is also back (previous deal).

Reminds me of my old Stackhat in the 80s:
    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/Stackhat…

    • i had a lime green ninja turtles stackhat <3

  • I'm surprised jv isn't asking for the normal price

  • With local postage, that's $2 cheaper than Kmart regular price (in-store) http://www.kmart.com.au/product/skate-helmet---black,-medium… - but the kmart ones don't have the snazzy Reid branding upon them. The Kmart ones do come with stickers though!

I'm a 58cm head, so I would need to try on a Reid helmet before ordering anyway.

    • This $8 helmet from Target suits 58-62cm head size, and they have smaller sizes too:

      https://www.target.com.au/p/cyclops-series-1-helmet-large/55…

However it appears to only have a thin plastic "skin" on the outside, so will be more prone to damage when you aren't wearing it. The Reid one appears to have thicker plastic on the outside, more durable.

I've always wondered about the helmets with thin plastic on them - if you tossed it into your bag, and then someone sat on your bag, would the helmet break?

  • Web description: "A classic skate-style bike helmet ". However, no mention of Australian Standards. Does this mean it is not Standards complianct?

    • Some helmets on Reid did mention Australian Standard 2063:2008 compliant however not all of them have it, and the most expensive one there (Limar X-MTB Helmet) doesn't have the mention.

On Product Safety site it did state that:

Any bicycle helmets supplied are required to meet the requirements published in AS/NZS 2063:2008—Bicycle helmets, as specified and varied by the Regulations.

So I'll be surprised that Reid is selling something that's not compliant. Then again what's the point of mentioning 2063:2008 compliant in other helmet pages when it's already mandatory…

  • I don't know why it says expired, coz I just bought 2 of them for $9.99 each.
