  • I'm not trying to be a pain, but where is the toothpaste made?

Should be Thailand. The ones I bought from woollies is made in Thailand.

      • Incorrect - the tubes shown are labelled in Vietnamese, so probably made in Vietnam "under licence of Colgate Palmolive (USA)" (the small prints at the bottom right corner).

        • Yeah maybe yours is a different batch. But my batch from woolies is definitely from Thailand, I checked this morning It was the Colgate Regular in a 3 pack, bought less than a month ago.

        • @Cronut:

          $4.47 right? ^^

@CVonC: It was half price, I think around $2.87 for a 3 pack of 110g each.

But with deals like this oral b 160g for $1.49, toothpaste now is really cheap compared to a few years ago. https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Browse/toiletries-beauty-…

        • @Cronut: Yours was from Woolies, while I was referring to the picture in the catalogue in this deal.

        • @Cronut:

Oh mine was $4 for 3x147g actually

Your half price deal was great value per 100g :)

But yeah OP still wins ^^

    • The last lot were Vietnam. They were fine, just not so minty.

Parallel import Toothpaste might raise some eyebrows

only if it has botox in it and you're applying it to the wrong part of your body!

  • Aldi toothpaste is made in Australia

    • +1

      From local and imported ingredients?

      • Doesn't say that. Australia made.

        • The improved origin labelling will start showing up in July 2016.

        • @KentT:

As it doesn't say from local and imported ingredients, I'd assume it's 100% Australian.

        • @tightwad:

As it doesn't say from local and imported ingredients, I'd assume it's 100% Australian.

And that assumption is why the new labels are better. Not perfect, but better. It might say 70% Australian, but they won't have to tell you the whether the other 30% is from New Zealand or North Korea.

Currently, if it has the green kangaroo triangle and says "Australian Made":

          • The product has been manufactured here (not just packaged or assembled);
            and
          • 50% or more of the cost of making it can be attributed to Australian materials and/or production processes.

So it could have 0% Australian ingredients. That's unlikely, especially with Aldi, but the labelling won't tell you.

For 100% Australian ingredients, it would say "Product of Australia"
