Our three latest releases are as follows (descriptions have been written by Chiara, I'm not great at adding such flair!):

  • Signature Milk Tea: Inspired by the iconic taste of classic milk tea, this flavour combines a velvety, creamy base with subtle tea notes from Amino Z's signature blend of premium Assam and black teas.
  • Earl Grey Milk Tea: Developed with a blend of meticulously selected bergamot and a signature combination of rich black teas, this flavour brings creamy, milky notes for a smooth, satisfyingly elegant taste that’s true to the classic Earl Grey.
  • Caramelised Dutch Cookie: Inspired by classic Speculaas cookies, this flavour combines warm, spiced caramel with a creamy, sweet base. It delivers a rich, indulgent taste of caramelised cookies with subtle hints of cinnamon, gingerbread and other spices.

All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Five of the thirty flavours will attract a higher price point due to additional cost to manufacture and also higher ingredient costs associated with these flavours. They include the three cookie flavours (+$2.48 per 1kg bag for Caramelised Dutch Cookie, Cookies & Cream, Mint Cookie Crunch) and the two new tea flavours (+$4.14 per 1kg bag for Signature Milk Tea, Earl Grey Milk Tea). All other flavours are at the standard price.

For the sweetness above, this is just a general indication of how sweet this flavour is relative to other flavours. 1 star is less sweet, 3 stars is more sweet. Unflavoured has no sweetener added so is 0 stars.

To help guide, here are the category descriptions from the table above:

Category Description
STRAIGHT Unflavoured and optimised for macronutrients (90% protein). Due to omitting flavours and any sweetener, this is just straight WPI from the manufacturer (less than 1% sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture). Use in cookies, smoothies etc. Or if you just want the best macros and don't care for taste!
CORE These flavours have between 75-87% protein. They will also be low in fat (0.3-0.8g/serve) and also low in carbs (1-3.7g/serve). As a general guide, suitable if you have strict dietary restrictions and want to keep the carbs/fat down, but want something more exciting than unflavoured.
INDULGE These flavours will have 64-76% protein with a higher serving size. Notably, carbs and/or fat will be higher than most flavours in the core range, generally contributing an additional 20-30 calories per serve. These flavours will also contain extra ingredients that enhance the flavour profile. This extra latitude with macros and ingredients allows us to elevate the flavour to be what we consider amazing, while not being a complete cheat meal. Given the popularity of Aussie Choc Malt, we're experimenting with a few others in this category and have recently released our three new cookie flavours and our two new milk tea flavours.

  • Chocolate Caramel: Inspired by a popular Aussie Chocolate caramel lolly, our chocolate caramel flavour harmoniously blends the sweet and sticky profiles of caramel and butterscotch with a subtle milk chocolate base.
  • Chocolate Coconut: A blend of rich dark chocolate with sweet, creamy, and nutty coconut undertones.

  • 100% Australian Blended and Packed in our Sydney Facility
  • Our manufacturing facility is owned by us and is a NSW Licensed Food Facility with an approved Dairy Processing license
  • We only use WPI in this protein - this is not a blend of other cheaper proteins (for example Whey Protein Concentrate/WPC)

Why so short this time?

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

      @somebodysaybargain we have no confirmed plans around this particular flavour. I believe we ran into an issue with that flavour supplier and have not currently found a suitable alternative to this.

      I will take note and share with the team though, as we do have plans to further expand the range of pre-workout flavours.

    Last offer I added a bag of Pineapple Protein Water to try out since I always use water anyway. Was and is actually quite nice on a hot day and a bit different to the traditional milk compatible flavours.

    The really hard bit with these deals is trying to decide what flavours to try each time.

      @xtommyk we likely will be looking towards a Vegan-specific offer next year at some point. There is 30% off the Vegan Protein, but I do understand that this is no where near the same level of discount as compared to what we are offering on the WPI.

      I do appreciate the feedback and support. We will get one up here eventually once we are properly prepared for a Vegan offer.

          My apologies @mickeyk for setting some false expectations here previously. We did have this on the cards and due some constraints we have faced this year, we have been unable to proceed with all the promotions we initially planned.

          Vegan is certainly not off the cards in 2025. I won't commit 100% to this, but I would say that it is more likely than not.

    A couple deals back, when we were doing 5kg deals (sigh), there were discussions on doing greater quantity deals (5+ kgs), but since last deal, we only started doing 3kg deals (citing shortages in the industry, even more sigh), do we have any update on the same Jay?

      @jestincredible unfortunately not much has changed since Black Friday. To be completely transparent, we were not planning on a Boxing Day promotion due to supply constraints. This was only made possible by an extremely limited amount of stock we were able to secure last-minute.

      Realistically I cannot commit to anything in the order of 5kg within the next 6 months from us.

      I have not received any positive news from suppliers in relation to more WPI supply, or a drop in demand. As most global WPI stock is secured prior to the beginning of each quarter, everything is tied up until at least March 2025 (from the supply side). This effectively means that on the retail side, any supply easing will be very unlikely to transpire until second half of 2025. This is completely contingent more WPI availability in 2025 though.

      I hope this provides some background.

    If anyone is interested in branching out from the usual cookies and cream, chocolate etc I highly recommend a few combos with their WPI;

    Coconut Ice Cream - goes amazingly with coconut water or coconut milk. Top tier ninja creami flavour as well.
    Taro - AminoZ has top tier Asian-centric flavours and this is the best of them in my opinion.
    Matcha Ice Cream - really enjoy the flavour profile on this. Not too sweet like most matcha here.

    Their WPI works really well for Ninja Creami as I think a few(not all?) flavours have some xantham gum.

    I'm yet to try the tea or biscoff as they've been sold out last two times I ordered. I pickup and I'm too impatient to wait lol

      I almost 100% do these protein powders with low fat Greek Yoghurt plus added seasonal fruit. I see some complaints on protein flavours being too sweet. I find the mix with Yoghurt is great to get a less sweet flavour with the healthy aspects of low fat Yoghurt.

      Only flavour that hasn't mixed as well as I liked was cookies and cream for texture. But the vanilla creamy, which Choc, Caramel, strawberry all tick the boxes. Big fan of the cereal one I just got.

      Repeating on many previous times. Wish I'd bought more of the Iced Cinnamon and Mango flavours. Nostalgia kicking in hard so soon. Big fan of AminoZ.

    My $0.02.

    Recommended:
    - Pandan and coconut is great with an interesting flavour profile
    - Taro milk ice cream stays winning

    Not recommended:
    - Matcha ice cream doesn't taste like matcha anymore - this used to be a favourite of mine
    - Mint choc chip was mild and disappointing, like drinking vaguely minty sugar
    - Melon milk has a whiff of melon flavour, but it's incredibly mild

      I’ve found using a bit less water with mint choc chip helps, also I’ve experimented with adding a teaspoon or two of avalanche drinking chocolate to add some chocolate flavour and I really like it. Only adds around 30kj too.

      In case I can help here, for the protein water, we do recommend using a shaker. Add in the water first, then the powder, then shake for a few seconds.

      I find that it mostly mixes okay but there's sometimes some clumping around the spout of the shaker, aside from that I find that it mixes fine. Maybe just give it a bit more of a shake!

    The Caramelised Dutch Cookie is an absolute hit. Wife uses it to make protein oats and it's her new favourite flavour.

    Great deal yet again! Bought the Black Friday deal recently, so won't take part in this as I've got too much!!!

    My review:

    1. Taro Ice Cream - love it
    2. Melon Milk - easy to drink and mild, and I quite like that it's mild. Definitely great as a light protein shake or even blended up as a frappe / slushie.
    3. Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream - a bit disappointed by this one, was expecting a lot stronger matcha profile, but it tastes too much like the fake matcha powders mixed with lots of sweeteners. I'd probably pass on this next order and just get a simple vanilla or chocolate.

    Overall, Amino Z you guys are killing it with these high quality protein deals, so keep up the good work!!!

    I've got a bag of pre-work out from the last deal, i haven't opened it yet as i had just opened up my normal pre-workout only a few days before the last deal, but the thought of stocking up on the pre workout came to mind, but was wondering what the boost from your pre workout was like?
    I currently use Total War, and i'm somewhat used to it, i still only take one scoop but i don't get the tingles at all. I am part of the early morning crew, so at least i'm not falling asleep half way though doing on my PR on the bench press

    how does your pre workout hit and if you're able to compare it to Totalwar or other stims on the market?

      So I've just taken a look at Total War and it looks like it's 250mg of caffeine per serve. This is comparable to our Complete Pre Workout. The Beta Alanine dosage will be the same.

      That said, our High-Stim Pre Workout does have a higher caffeine dosage of 350mg per serve (same amount of Beta-Alanine).

      @RockyK9, I would suggest that those two would be the strongest options out of the lot. Smooth milk is a lighter flavour in comparison.

      Of those two, I guess it would come down to if you prefer the straight choc, or a choc with the condensed milk undertone (in the Brazilian).

    Tried the Earl Grey from last deal and there is noticeable clumping, both into mini balls (nearly every time) and at the bottom of the shaker (common).

    Would also say that it's a very subtle tea flavour, maybe even too weak
