CloudMagic Mac App FREE (Was $19.99)

520

Yesterday I was just thinking about buying this app for $20 and this morning before I was going to make a purchase it was FREE. Must be my lucky day.

Not sure if this will always stay free so get it while you can.

CloudMagic is my favourite email client apps - It does what every other email client does and more. With real time results and instant notifications synced across all your devices (Android and iOS already FREE) and of course your smart watch, sender profile, supports all major mail accounts and IMAP, minimalist user interface, fast search filter. Its simple to setup, start managing multiple mail accounts on the go, using one account to sync all email accounts across different devices. And as they say, it is blazing fast!

  • What does it do? You mind updating the description?

      Sure no probs, description updated.

  • i was going to buy this too. just to see what the app does

Same here, initially just wanted to see what it does. Since installing it, it has been the only app I've needed for my emails. Its got to be the fastest one yet.

Reviews aren't great. Maybe that's why it's free.

    • I would try it out, so far so good. Doesn't hurt to try now that its free :) I think it is a fantastic app and I would have paid the $20 for it.

I've been using it for a long time, very good app

Does this support push from a Gmail account?

EDIT: Sorry, just found the line in the description:

Instant push notifications for ALL types of email accounts: Gmail, Exchange, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, Google Apps, Office 365, IMAP - you name it!

Gonna give this a shot, thanks OP!

currently wondering, why do I need another email client instead of the one comes with osx? Just a bit worried about spyware or virus.

    • +2

Exactly what I was thinking too… What additional functionality does this offer?

      • +3

        My guess is absolutely nothing.

It's an email client. It checks email. Just the same as every other email client.

Guess what this can do special…. it "With real time results and instant notifications synced across all your devices"… exactly the same as every other email client.

Because that is what email clients do. They check email.

(if this actually does offer some advantage, the OP hasn't told us)

        • I've updated the description. I should have probably mentioned it uses one CloudMagic account to sync across all. I'm using CloudMagic on my Mac, a couple of tablets, Android and iPhone. I find it convenient when using multiple accounts, basically I set it up on once on my Mac, and for every other device just signed into my CloudMagic account to access all my emails. It syncs across all which is better than using default clients and having to add emails again and again when you are on different devices. Hope this explains a bit more. Cheers.

        • +3

          @browse:

So it does exactly what every other client does. The syncing you're referring to is IMAP, and that comes from the mail provider. If you had a client that couldn't handle IMAP or Exchange then you would be shocked.

Or is this creating a central sever capable or turning POP3 into IMAP?

That's how all email clients work. Cloud Magic doesn't add anything special there.

It syncs across all which is better than using default clients and having to add emails again and again when you are on different devices.

That's what all email clients and IMAP can do. There is no need to sync, it's all automatic.

Not really. Nothing you have said is anything diffferent from any other email client does.

I have an iPhone 5 that can do all that with the default email client. My iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 also could do it back in the day. I have a Samsung Note that can do all that with the default email client. I have a Asus tablet that does all that with the default email client. I can do it using Microsoft Outlook. I can even do it online using Gmail.

In fact, I cannot think of any email client that cannot do what you describe.

        • @llama:

          From the website:

"Log in to multiple devices without having to setup your email accounts all over again.
Sync preferences like signature, account colors etc across devices
Ability to remote wipe your data if you lose your phone/tablet"

Their site is scarce on the details but I think what this app does is merge all your email from different accounts together pretty much like how an RSS feed app aggregates all articles from multiple blog sources. But this goes one step further and combines all email into 1 inbox.

This is a Mac (OSX) app not a windows app.
So I am not sure which virus/spyware you are talking about on a mac?

      • The spyware and viruses that infect Macs.

The ones that Mac users don't think exist :-)

        Old but interesting article HERE

Using macs for over 12 years, never ever seen anything anywhere.
and I sometimes go to some dark places…

        • @macfanboy:

          Wow, how radical.

The ironic thing about Windows malware is that most people don't even know their PC is infected. That's the whole idea :-)

Suggest having a read of their privacy policy, and understanding how this email 'client' actually works.

Nice app but I prefer not to have another provider downloading all my e-mails…

  • +2

This is one of the best email clients I have used, it's a lot nicer than my integrated Android one. I've used the Android app for a seriously long time, and before it had been a specific amount, then there was a pro version that was subscription basis, but they scraped it and ended up just making it a full blown out app for free. It's my personal favourite app, and it's good to see it free on Mac now.

  • Does MAC version also have 'pro' version concept? Or IAPs are free with this?

  • Get it

  • Awesome app. I tried all other email apps and this is by far the best

One thing I like most is it displays all the sub folders you havecunder inbox. This wins me.

For free, must download and keep

$20 for an email client? For real?

  • +1

Can't complain that It is free, but me personally I prefer the my mail app which has always been free. I tend to send alot of attachments as emails on daily bases and I compared speed of this app with my mail app and It took ages to send the attachments.

  • "Yesterday I was just thinking about buying this app for $20 and this morning before I was going to make a purchase it was FREE. Must be my lucky day."

Wow! Your powers of thought are amazing!

Can you please think of me winning a lotto ticket and I'll go and get one. :-)

YO! There seems to be a bit of confusion around the value of this, or any alternative Mail app for desktops, paid or otherwise. Completely understandable, why would anyone need an alternative app for something as basic as email, calendar or even web browser? The answer is likely that you don't. Whatever Apple or Microsoft give you are likely adequate (more so if you live in the one ecosystem). But there's this one insane secret to body fat burning millionaire ninjas don't want you to know that might make you read the actual explanation below…

CloudMagic is a service, not an app. They make email kickass again by taking the pain and stock vendor complacency out of email.

As a nerd with an appreciation for design and way too many devices running different OS' combined with way too many email addresses, CloudMagic for Desktop, is an absolute Godsend. I sign into my CloudMagic account and BOOM! Just like that I've got all of email accounts - even the three I forgot I had - on my phone, tablet and now, Desktop. Even if that's not something you need, just be thankful that email has finally caught up to the age of cloud services and is no longer relegated to complacency of Microsoft or Apple's attempts. CloudMagic have the right to charge a reasonable fee for the convenience and aesthetically pleasing service they offer, but have evidently graciously opted for the freemium model. Allowing for completely optional premium add ons such as the sender profile.

10/10 would actually purchase for $20 again.

Unless you need an email app that provides more customisation or more detail than standard apps provide.

eg. ability to review the email headers for diags/security purposes.

I like how they're trying to think outside the old, worn out, familiar box of email. We need that.

I downloaded it for both the Mac and iOS yesterday, but sadly discovered it was unable to piece together email conversation threads properly. Unlike what it says on their website, instead of say <Me>-<Friend>-<Me> in a thread, all it would present is <Me>-<Me> or <Friend>-<Friend> and the emails in between are missing.

I sadly had to delete it after trying my best to figure out how to make it behave properly.

I must say the stock Mac OS Mail app still leaves a lot (A. LOT.) to be desired, but 98% of the time it works competently.

Just the same as ANY other email client can do. Woo Hoo!

All email is "on the cloud". That's where it comes from.

ROFL. You aren't a very good salesperson.

      • False, false and true! Good thing I'm not in sales hey aha!?
I'm not going to try to single-handedly rescue 'cloud' from buzzword oblivion, but I believe you're severely misconstruing (or misunderstanding) what I'm saying based on the common misconceptions of 'cloud'. Share with us which “… ANY …” other email clients allow you to login to their service and instantly access all previously associated email accounts, whilst also providing push notifications.

        • Share with us which “… ANY …” other email clients allow you to login to their service and instantly access all previously associated email accounts, whilst also providing push notifications.

They all can. You asked for "any" so I will say "OUTLOOK" (Exchange).

          And Gmail.

          And Postbox.

And … the standard Email APP on my iPhone (whatever it's called)

And… the email app that came with my old Asus TF101

And… the email app on my Samsung Note 3.

          And… (hint: all of them)

  • Wow, thanks for the post.

I've been using Cloudmagic on iOS for a while now, and think it works pretty well. I've been reluctant to drop almost $30 to test it out on Mac, but for free—well, who can say 'no'.

First thoughts is that the interface is super uncluttered…whether it makes it too simplistic, time will tell.

  • While I was trying it, I notice CloudMagic for Mac displayed mail entries in small batches and as I reach the bottom of the screen it loads the next batch. Is this normal behaviour? In this regard, Mail.app is much, much faster since (I believe) it grabs everything in one batch as soon as it can. No batch loading lag. Happy to be corrected.

CloudMagic is my go-to email client apps in my iphone, I paid $20 for the mac version, expecting that it will be as good as the iphone version but it is not. The improper design and lack of functions are two basic problems. if you don't know how to use shortcut, you will have to keep on clicking so many times to switch between accounts. Just be aware that Cloudmagic is not only a server, they store and index your data before they push mail to you. There is potential security and privacy issues user need to be aware. I have deleted it and now switch to Airmail. Airmail 2 is amazing, highly recommended.
