Noticed this on Banggood while purchasing a Type-C to Micro USB adapter, I've also recently purchased a very similar cable made by BlitzWolf and can say they are a very good quality cable and have come up fine with a CheckR test on my Nexus 5x.

Available in two colours (black & grey, or red & black) and on top of that, this particular cable is Benson Leung approved (if that means anything to you).

2m version available here for $8.03 AU thanks to klaw81!

Enjoy!

There's also a 2m long version for $8.03 if you'd prefer a bit of extra length.

And a 3m long version for $14.72, but this is normal price

    • Good find, added the 2m version to the deal.

  • Good price but beware of long shipping times though. Took about a month and a half for my last one to arrive.

My last order from Banggood (for Type C adaptors) only took 2 weeks, which is pretty good for free shipping from China.

      • Same here. Quick enough and had a good experience with after sales service for my squealing Blizwolf USB charger.

Ordered these exact cables last month. Arrived in 2 weeks.

      • Yup mine came in about 2 weeks also. Very good quality cables. Pretty sure the ones I got were USB 3.0 though.

    • Agree with Jamiea.
I foolishly paid for Priority Direct ($7) so I could get my charger and cable in good time before I went away.. 9 business days later the tracking info still shows it as "processing".

I haven't done this in a while but when you want something faster than China can offer, I used to go to eBay and sort by items in Australia only. You'd get all the same Chinese crap at a slightly higher price, and it would arrive in pretty good time.

  • just ordered 2m cable, thanks.

Pretty cheap, thanks. Note: it's USB 2.0 so slower transfer speed for data, otherwise solid.

I can't believe they're even allowed to make USB 2 type C cables. They're going to make a confusing mess of this. They should all be USB 3.1.

      • What's hard to believe? Not everyone uses these cables for high-speed data transfer.

        • Its almost like installing a FTTN network instead of a FTTP network in a quickly developing first world country! Seriously, why would you make a new standard connection type for USB but not have the latest and backwards compatible technology on it? Make it future proof for God's sake! It doesn't make sense. As HairyHead said, its going to become one big confusing mess. If you aren't using it for data transfer then surely you are using it for charging and USB3 has better power delivery anyway?

        • @bananabendera:

I purchased mine purely to be able to connect it to my PC, it may be used for charging eventually but for the price it was hard to go past.

        • @tranqme: I'm not saying it's a bad price, but almost all devices that utilise USB-C will be utilising USB 3.0 at least. Why implement old technology in new technology? It really bottlenecks it.

        • @bananabendera:

Fair enough, I guess USB 3.0 isn't really a selling point for me yet, but I'm sure it will be in the future.

        • @tranqme: Once it all becomes even more affordable I'm sure it will, I can never go back.

It doesn't matter. They're introducing frustration by making the cables incompatible. If I have a USB-C cable that appears to have the right type of plug at each end at a glance, it should work wherever I put it. The whole point of USB-C was to stop having all these millions of different cables for things. Now, you still have to stupidly worry about whether a given cable is USB 2 or USB 3.

        • @bananabendera:
Isn't power delivery completely independent to USB3, and compatible with 2.0?

        • @MrMcHairyHead:

Incompatible to some people*, like I said, most people don't use these cables for high speed data transfer.

        • @tranqme: IT DOESN'T MATTER. The cables should all be compatible! The whole point of USB C was to have one unified cable for as much as possible! Now you're telling me I'm going to have to worry about figuring out whether a cable is USB 2 or 3 without even being able to tell by looking at it?

It's not hard to understand. All the cables should be the same so nobody ever has to worry about it.

        • @MrMcHairyHead:

It does matter, if most people don't need it, then why should it be a standard technology across the board?

Bought a few of these ones for $1.99 each. I am not sure if they are as good as the BlitzWolf's ones but for $2. It's cheap!!

Don't use that cable. Never trust cheap USB-C cables, they can damage your devices. Some cables use 10K Ohm resistors, others use 54K Ohm resistors. This cable is approved by Benson Leung, who tests USB C cables using his Chromebook Pixel and Nexus 6P (he's a google employee). He had a cheap USB-C cable kill his CB Pixel.

54K will only provide what the host can provide.
10K will just say that 3A is available - when sometimes it's not.

USB C can murder your devices - be careful people!

    • You get what you pay for at the end of the day, I would rather spend the extra $4.70 and get a cable that has good reviews.

    I just found this thing:
Double sided USB-A?? that's crazy talk.

    http://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-3A-Double-sided-Reversible…

      • I'm currently in a dispute over several of these blitzwolf 2.1A cables failing within a week of use.

Bizarrely, the outer casing on the USB end decided to slide off exposing an area beneath, the failure may have been caused by heat.

You can see they are only held together with a tiny amount of glue.

I bought some of these cables. I think they are the most beautifully-made cables I have ever used.

  • There is also a USB 3.0 non-braided version that is also approved by Benson, goes for the same price 6.69 AUD

I don't think this one is approved, not that I care, but the Benson-Nazis on here may pull you up on it.

      • Oh man you're totally right haha I was looking at the braided on that he reviewed on amazon

      • Can't be tested as it's a pre-order discount. Blitzwolf has proven itself to be a quality product, so I'm going to put in an order for a couple.

Bought one. I don't even have a phone with Type-C connector.

  • Does this support fast-charging on Nexus 6P?

    • +1

I have the non-braided version of this cable and it supports rapid charging on my 5X, I would imagine this cable would do the same.

  • It's a silly question but I guess it is not for the Samsung mobiles! Am I correct ?

    • Correct, they mostly use micro USB cables, depending on the model.

    • -1

No, it's just for devices that don't have a Type-c connector.

  • I have a Nexus 5 X as well. What is the main use for this cable ? I just recently purchased a DAC/Amp which I am waiting for to arrive, would I need one of these to connect ?

    • +1

This cable can be used for charging and for connecting your phone to say a PC for data access, it will not provide any use to connect to a DAC.

      • Thanks Tranqme
