  • $445 MEL HKG return is very cheap, Thanks.

Just that, am I reading travel time correctly?

    MEL12:20 - HKG05:45 (+1) 19h 25m
    HKG07:00 - MEL10:40 (+1) 25h 40m

    • Yeah - unfortunately on the way back you get a long layover in Singapore.

  • Any reviews for Scoot?

1000s. google is your friend. :)

Have traveled with them a few times, no complaints. Only thing to watch out for is the long layovers (eg. 23 hours in Singapore) if you're in a hurry.

    • Scoot is a very strict policy Budget Air, which Jetstar is much friendly and flexible.

Scoot needs to pay for everything, including cup water and using the power plug on flight which are Free on Jetstar.

I've also get rejected to checkin my Scoot connection flight due to previos flight long delay, and I didnt purchase Scoot Thru

I would prefer Jetstar and also with their Price Beat Guarantee.

      • The connecting flight issue you mentioned would happen even if you bought on a full service carrier, so I wouldn't include that on the list as a review of Scoot specifically. The rest, yea sure fair enough.

        • I mean the staff asked me to buy a new ticket out of pocket myself for the next available flight just because I was 6-7 mins late when I checkin, still 1 hour and 53 mins before flight depart.

I flied with Airasia before and was 15 mins late, Qantas for 30 mins late to checkin with no issue

        • @ccwwayne: Yea I'm saying that can happen on any airline you purchase on, regardless of budget or full service. It's not unusual at all and this is why we're told to leave sufficient buffer between flights bought on separate tickets as we don't get compensated. Even travel insurance doesn't usually cover for these sorts of incidents.

          @illumination:

I've never ever seen an airline demand check in 2 hours before a flight. It's usually 1 hour or less.

        • @tightwad: I'm not talking about it from a "how long before departure does check-in time close" point of view, although I agree 2 hours pre-departure sounds excessive, and in fact doesn't sound right - pretty sure it's not the case from my experience flying with them.

I'm saying once check-in closes, any airline regardless of whether budget or full service will tell you to buy a new ticket if you purchased them as two separate tickets.

Once you're late (as per their definition of late), then they are likely to tell you to sort yourself out.

    • Flew them once in July last year. Found them pretty good/comfortable. Positive experience.

Also I don't think there's any other low cost carrier that flies B787 Dreamliners.

      • Jetstar, Norwegian Air, maybe others.

        • Oh yea.. I forgot about Jetstar! Didn't know about Norwegian Air though, but good to know!

    • Scoot are excellent as far as space and comfort go. Their layovers however are the worst.
You also have to be careful of getting a partner airline (tiger) with some flights, not sure about this HK one though.

  • Thanks, found a cheap way to get to Macau.

WTF…..$40 credit card fee on a $310 fare (ex Perth)? When is the ACCC going to clamp down on this?

At best large merchants pay ~2% on a visa transaction. $40 equates to a 600% markup on the actual cost to Scoot.

    • ahah just like the postage charges on ebay.

  • Good prices but taking nearly 24 hours to get there is a bit of a journey of epic proportions. Will be interesting to see if anyone here on the East Coast actually takes this offer up.

I would if I wasn't already going to Tokyo (on the jetstar deal) next week.

I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to getting cheap flights!

  • Store rep are there any good prices to go to Fiji?
