I can't say, I haven't used it yet. I hope what you're saying is the exception because I was going to use this to get to the airport!
Uber on the other hand was good experience for me. At least the drivers never ditch me before they get to me.
I agree with you there. I'm going at 100% good experiences with Uber
At normal times I've had no issues. However late night or peak, I've had to put a tip in to get someone to accept the fare. I wouldn't have pre-tipped if I didn't have free credit though.
If you want a taxi at the Melbourne airport, you need to just walk out to the public pickup and request a taxi. Don't try to go to the taxi rank and request one as that will just confuse everyone.
Have you tried Ingogo? I can give a 20 Dollar referral code!
Im gonna try it out. Does anyone know what the fare rate is?
You just get a taxi so it is standard taxi fare.
Its a standard taxi rate, but if you pay in app they add a fee to process it.
Its got the be the most expensive way to catch a ride somewhere, ahead of a taxi with a regular/traditional payment method and Uber.
Edit: I use GoCatch all the time to grab taxis in Canberra - I really like the idea, but I always pay the driver directly because its cheaper. My company ultimately pays the bill (which is why I can't take Uber, they don't allow it) but no point making it even more expensive.
I went to a bar last week, I took GoCatch on the way in, cost me $32, (lucky I had $20 credit) on the way back I took an Uber and it cost me $24.
If your interested i can provide a 20 dollar referral code for Ingogo.
Interesting company - seems to be trying to have a bet each way - GoCatch app to hail ordinary licensed taxis, and at the same time trying to launch GoCar, a ride-sharing service more akin to Uber.
Is there a minimum cost you need to reach? :)
Could combine with referral for new customers:
Not sure about others but I never had success on GoCatch for my two last attempt. Both cabs decided to ignore me after confirming the pick up, obviously they found someone else on the way. Not impressed.
