Singapore Airlines has a cracking sale on at present with deals to Singapore from $489 Return, Hong Kong from $526 Return, India from $666 return, Japan from $677 Return, Ho Chi Minh City from $493 Return and more. This deal focuses on the amazing prices to London on this 5-star airline, bags, movies, food and the usual onboard experience included!

I've included prices from most major cities in Australia. There may well be cheaper flights too, I've just done a rough scan of the dates to find some good ones.

All flights are via Singapore.

If you're in Canberra or Hobart, I'd seriously consider buying two separate tickets - to Syd/Mel, and then grabbing these, would probably save you hundreds.

That is an excellent price from PER.

  • Singapore Airlines Rtn to London Ex
    MEL $1225
    HBA $1862

$637 extra for Hobart, geebus. $1425 would be reasonable.

    • +3

yeah, as per the text, you're better off getting a cheap flight to MEL and then grabbing one of their deals

    • It’s all due to codeshare fare brackets with VA

      • Hey @AircraftFreight, what are "codeshare fare brackets"?

        • +1

Fare brackets/buckets are the types of fares being sold on flights. It differs from the operating airline marketing the flights (ie. Virgin Australia flight 805) and a marketing airline with a different operating airline (ie. Singapore Airlines 6849, which is operated by Virgin Australia flight 805)

          Virgin Australia 805 - J8 C7 D5 - Y9 B9 W9 H9 K9 L9 R9 E9 O9 N9 V9 P9 Q9 T9 I9 S0 M9
          Singapore Airlines 6849 (VA805) - Z4 C4 J4 U4 D4 - Y4 B4 E4 M4 H4 W4 Q4 N4

These letters and numbers indicate the amount of seats available for sale per fare bracket. They go up to 9 but can show more and is the reason why you can only book 9 seats online at once. The higher (left) you go, the more expensive the fare is as its a superior fare grade (ie. Flexible rather than Choice or Lite)

Although they are the same flight, Virgin Australia offers more discounted fares as they have discretion to offer more as they are in control. Singapore Airlines only has access to more expensive fares as they are negotiated in advance and a premium being charged by Virgin Australia to allow Singapore to use their services domestically within Australia.

Was excited for Mel-Japan in November but man these like 16 hour plus flights are a killer. Some are 20-30 hours!

  • Any idea when anyone plans to release specials to Europe for September?
Seems every deal or cheap flights has travel for every month bar September.
Even June/July which is peak time has has cheap deals but for some reason haven't seen anything available for September.

      school holidays

Beware Singapore Airlines sometimes use their budget airline scoot for flights. Read the fine print.

    • +7

I don’t know why you are being negged. It’s a very valid concern. Always be sure to check that the flights from Perth, Melbourne or Sydney are operated by Singapore Airlines and not scoot.

      • +4

You can typically tell if the airline operates these flights by the flight number. For an airline like Singapore, flight numbers in the hundreds or less will mean its on its own metal (ie sq228). You can always google the flight numbers to check if its operated by the airline too.

Scoot only operate to Athens and Berlin in Europe and from Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, so you only have to look at those legs for any potential Scoot services.

Scoot only uses the 787s for long haul too, so if you see a 77w, a380 or a359, you'll be fine.

        • +3

          “You can typically tell”

It’s generally the people that don’t know that end up getting screwed, it’s a good piece of PSA

          • @AircraftFreight: Very easy, an example is the scoot flight out if Mel which is TR25, but when marked as Singapore codeshare comes up as SQ8515. I seached Singapore's website and they dont have a guide for the flight number categories.

I'm assuming all SQ8xxx numbered flights are scoot codeshares.

      • +3

Before I even heard of scoot I bought a discount ticket to Athens with Singapore Airlines. It was a rude shock when the second leg connecting flight from Singapore to Athens was Scoot.

Came too late, I already paid similar price flying with Eva air, but do they using Boeing or airbus

    • +2

They use Boeing in Long Haul (but by 2026 will be adding A350). You can put your flight number in at a site like flightaware.com and check the history of the flights. They plane type usually doesn't change. I expect it'll say B77W or B787for a London flight from Asia.

Are the business class seats also cheap?

  • Are these prices only available via a 3rd party? Seem to be much higher directly unless I'm missing something

    • I tried the $1242 Melb flights and Singapore website was pretty much the same, maybe double check the airport as these flights were via Gatwick

  • +5

Sydney 1252 v Canberra 1944 lol… I reckon the Murrays Bus for $50 to Sydney might be the best option there

  • Hopefully there's some business deals in future :P

Missed the last cathy one :(

    Economy. lol

  • Anything depart Dec and return Jan?

  • Unbelievable. Thanks OP. And Singapore Airlines no less!

BTW, just returned home from the Hainan Airlines deal.
    Supposedly a 5 star airline - don't believe it.
Numerous delayed flights. Airline staff don't follow procedure - we were not booked thru on the way back, because the poor dear checking us in was having a bad day and didn't want to.
Cabin service is HIGHLY variable. Shanghai to Haikou was supposed to have drinks and meal. No booze, and no meal.
BUT - the staff from Haikou to Melbourne were really good.
A 5-star airline doesn't have such variable service on the whim of their staff - they have standards and enforce them by removing staff that don't uphold the 5* rating.
Anyhow, rant over, cos this offer is Singapore - which in my limited experience, offer consistently high standards (excluding their LCC Scoot, of course).

  • Not sure if I’ve missed it but can’t seem to find October flights to Japan for anywhere near the $677 from Sydney.
