My favourite low cost carrier with more cheap flights to Asia! If you're after earlier dates, have look at the previous post. Osaka shows up too.

All flights are return and are via Kuala Lumpur.

I've included Melbourne below but frankly couldn't find many great prices for some reason, but other cheaper airlines will show up when you search - that just gives you an indication of when the dates are cheapest.

Summary:
Sydney to Tokyo (1 May - 30 Nov) from $479 return
Melbourne to Tokyo (1 May - 30 Nov) from $1131 return
Perth to Tokyo (1 May - 30 Nov) from $667 return
Sydney to Seoul (1 May - 30 Nov) from $449 return
Melbourne to Seoul (1 May - 30 Nov) from $895 return
Perth to Seoul (1 May - 30 Nov) from $394 return

Accommodation:

  • Searching for Brisbane to Tokyo, found some decent prices. My partner, a nervous flyer, wants to know why it’s your favourite low cost carrier :p

One of the safest low cost international carriers in the world (don't look at AirAsia Indonesia though).

Cheap and good quality food to buy on board (I rate AirAsia's food better than Qantas' in Economy at least), KLIA2 is fine (probably the best LCC transit hub outside of Singapore) and decent/cheap connections to basically anywhere in Asia (look out for their $1 seat promos from KLIA2, I've scored a few $1 tickets from KL to Thailand and Hong Kong before).

Flew them often when I was younger solo traveling, upgraded to the flatbed a few times (decent value!).

    • Oh, it's cheap but cheerful, the staff are actually friendly, and the food onboard is dirt cheap and delicious, it's about the only time I don't feel robbed paying for food onboard. Nasi Goreng, so good I usually get two…

Guessing nothing to Japan late September early October?

Ouch, why is Melb-Tokyo so much more expensive than Syd-Tokyo?

    • I think it's because of the different types of AirAsia. They come with different tail codes, D7, AK etc and I was filtering on D7 in my search.

    • Qantas or JetStar are better for cheap options for Tokyo. I paid about $800 return Melbourne-Tokyo last year.

I’ve booked Melbourne-Seoul return for $650 on JetStar including baggage and extra leg room.

      Both trips Oct/Nov.
