        • I took the risk with china post haha, took like 2 weeks a bit to arrive. Even at that price, the 32gb coming down so fast.. kinda wish I held off

    • You still saved a shit ton in comparison to buying a similar specced phone locally or elsewhere. China prices are always fluctuating so you can never really win sadly.

    • Maybe try to ask them to cancel the order and order again.

      • Its already posted can't do much now.

  • +1

how is the camera quality of this phone compared to Samsung Galaxy S4 ?

  • The Chinese version has pre-installed apps. Are they a nuisance or just leave it as flashing it will cause voiding of warranty.

    • Xiaomi and their warrenty is never going to be good. You need to walk into one of their shops to arrange service. As we aren't in China, it's very hard and they don't do postal repairs.

  • Can anyone confirm that the AFL Live app would work on this phone? It is listed as not compatible but I don't trust them.

    • +1

yes it would. its andorid 5.1 thats all that it really needs to support

  • damn great price, paid $15/20 more only last week. oh well, still can't wait, this phone seems to be the best value around atm.

  • +1

Don't forget to use Cashrewards. 1% cashback. Not a lot but still…

  • +1

Oh well I paid 30 bucks more last week.
    Great phone for the price!

  • +1

so this 32gb version has the 3gb ram?is that right?

    • Correct. 16GB version has 2gb.

      • what about micro sd? does this have a micro sd slot? i have read on the e-global page that it has micro sd slot but some reviews says it doesnt have expandable memory? so which one is telling the truth?

  • +2

It is worth noting that this phone has a fully functioning AOSP ROM straight from Snapdragon that you can flash when you unlock the bootloader. Everything works except the fingerprint reader. It's a factory ROM so I think performance is on par or better than MIUI:

    • +1

Can confirm works very well, apart from the fingerprint reader. Using it as my daily driver :)

    • Any idea if a Marshmallow ROM will be available anytime soon?

      • +1

Supposedly the China rom is already marshmallow, so hopefully they put it on global soon?

        • Oh hell yes! Go xiaomi

        • Did some googling, so far they have only release Global MM on the Mi phones, but I recon the redmi versions should be next

    • +2

looks like a new AOSP ROM has been released with everything working!!

      http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/aos…

      • Whats the advantage of using this? Over the one which comes with it.

        • +2

AOSP is very close to the stock Android experience. It is arguably a cleaner and faster UI and user experience.

        • @iChopstick: Thanks, will see how the Xiaomi interface goes before going to this.

      • Thanks. I saw that over the weekend. Looks promising.

      • Looks really good!

  • Very similar specs to my lg g pro 2 that i'm holding on for 2 years at about the same price as well.

    • Benchmarks show it performing just as well as the S6 actually in most aspects.

    • to be fair, its double the speed of your lg g pr 2 (snapdragon 800)

      • and the battery life also double……………………..

      • but this is only Snapdragon 650. but LG G Pro 2 has Snapdragon 800

        • +1

yes but numbers dont mean everything. snapdragon is 2 years old, 40k antutu score. snapdragon 650 is a few months old, 80k antutu

        • @xEnt: oh, is it now !! Thank you for updating my info.

        • @xEnt: do you know if its Dual Active or Just Dual Standby

        • @OzSikhs: couldn't tell you, all i know is its a very fast chip.

        • @xEnt: I mean is it Dual Sim Active version or just Dual Sim Standby

        • @OzSikhs: i believe dual active, but the second one must be a nano sim.

        • @xEnt: yup

        • @xEnt: could you tell me your source of info please, if you don't mind

        • +1

@xEnt: according to GSMarena, its only, dual stand-by

  • +1

Like the dual sim plus sd card mod. Will try it out for sure.

    • Lol I am not destroying my SIM card to do that. But if you do try, use the ethanol method.

      • I did that with my Huawei mate 8 and it worked. Dual sim and 200gb micro sd! Will never be able to take them out though as I'm pretty sure they're stuck in there now!

        • Did you box cutter it or use ethanol?

        • @Spectator: melted off the plastic from a nano sim, trimmed the sim contact a little, aligned and then glued to the back of the sd using nail glue. Google "s7 dual sim hack" for another guide

  • is it better specs than Galaxy Note 2?

    • Yes. It has a comparable processor to the LG G4. It just depends on whether you like MIUI or not but it's quite good so far.

    • +1

the CPU scores higher than a Galaxy Note 5. so yes its much better than your note 2.

    • +1

galaxy note 2 is already ancient at this point in time.

      • Still using mine at the moment with Slimkat 4.4 :(

Upgraded my family to the Redmi phones though.

        • +1

So what's holding you back now fry, you have been advocating for this phone and yet you haven't changed your GN2. =)

        • @angelkulit025: Don't have the budget at the moment. Had 2 birthday's this month so I got the Note 3 for Mum and the other gift is still pending. Soon :)

  • Can anyone tell me if this is a better deal? Price is cheaper but is it the same?
    http://m.geekbuying.com/item/-HK-Stock--International-Editio…

    • nope. cpu is not as good, display is not as good.

    • +1

That is the 5" version. This is the full HD 5.5" version.

    • oh oops didn't see that :P

  • My LG G3 is on its way out and was hoping to grab the LG G4 for ~$370 during the next Kogan sale. Or should I get this one instead? How easy is it to flash the global ROM?

Seems like a great phone for the price. Just a shame about the camera.

    • whats wrong with the camera?

      • Reviews say it's pretty average so I'm expecting it'll be a downgrade from my current LG G3

        • well, somethings gonna give right, or else everyone will be abandoning their apples and samsungs =)

        • +2

ive owned the G3, its been a year though, but im pretty sure this phone's photos look better than the G3 i had.

        • @xEnt: thank you sir! good feedback

    • +4

Global rom can be flashed using the official MI flash tool or you can ask for an unlock code from Xiaomi and wait a few weeks to get it. With that you can also flash a AOSP ROM (sans fingerprint scanner support).

Good for well lit conditions. Noticeably noisy in low light compared to high end cameras. There might be further software fixes for the camera though as it is supposed to be quite capable.

      • Yeah camera isn't as bad as people are saying!

        • +1

Agreed, I'm not sure what they are expecting, a DSLR? lol

        • @Pacify: haha can't compromise on the perfect selfie lol

  • +1

Can't decide between this or Nexus 5X

    • I would go with Nexus 5x. Stock Android.

      • +1

this one has a stock rom available, made by Qualcomm itself

    • +3

5x doesnt have a micro sd slot, has a lower ram and lower camera mp compared to this so it's a no brainer =)

      • good luck

    • +1

depends on your budget, if don't mind spending $400 vs $270 for a pretty similar product lol

      • Well the 16GB version is going for $314 currently on eglobal. 4G specs also includes 700MHZ (Band28), so possibly the H791 version.

        • +2

Ah. Then so its basically $100 more (for 16gb vs 16gb). Really depends on how much you want band 28 I guess, the Note3 has a better battery and screen, but other than that the specs are fairly similar, though the nexus has Marshmallow which is a big plus.

Actually, the lack of a SD card on the nexus makes it non-viable for me

        • @Pacify:

The nexus also has support for another couple of years. Doubt this see android n, let alone android o. Which a nexus 5x will. Though most people are scrapping their phones after 12 months nowadays. So you probably prefer the bigger battery and not worry about the missing band. 😎

  • Is this a customized ROM loaded on by the seller to support english, that might prevent users from upgrading to official ROMs?

    • +1

I believe it is locked bootloader with official ROM. If not, its unlocked bootloader with custom ROM which can be easily flashed back to official/AOSP.

  • So what is the best choice to buy here , the chinese version or the other one ?

    • +1

It's all from China mate…you new here? :)

      • the internnational / global rom is the best software for this.

  • Is this eglobaldigitalcamera seller generally reliable?

I was about to just bite the bullet and buy the phone from vickmall (due to the consistent good reviews) even though it's more expensive.

  • +1

    Hi all,

Been looking to upgrade from my ancient Galaxy Note 2 (flashed with CM13 aka Marshmallow). The bloody phone loses connection intermittently throughout the day (also happened under the official Samsung Kitkat ROM). I often miss important calls/texts.

Currently considering between the Redmi Note 3 pro or the Galaxy Note 4 (not 5). Am I mad to even consider an older phone? I bought my gf a redmi note 2 and have flashed the global rom on it. Miui shouldn't be an issue for me (though I prefer the cleaner presentation of Marshmallow).

    Cheers.

    • +2

Huge difference in price, depends on how much you want to spend.

For $270 though, the Note 3 pro is almost unbeatable
