Trying to draw a line on savings based upon fractions (i.e. "is 2% a bargain, or 5%?") is fairly asinine.
FocalPrice's prices are already cheap (if you want Chinese gimmicky gadgets), much like DealXtremes. 2% on top of that, whilst not huge, still means their prices - in general - are a bargain.
Website is AOK btw.
Web site is still down when accessed from Internode.
"The page cannot be found
HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)"There's some Chinese writing in the browser heading and a Focal Point logo, but that's it.
Clear your browser cache+cookies and restart your router. Doubt it's your ISP.
If this was Myer 2% off I would say meh.. but focalprice is pretty cheap I can't imagine there margins would be more than 5% in some cases so not bad.
Usual warnings re Focalprice. Post sale service is non existent - dont expect service if the product is faulty. Postage times can be measured in weeks or months.
2% is no bargain no matter what the starting price…..it's 2c in every dollar….HELLLO!!!
Look at fuel prices.
4c in every 110c.
That's 3.6% for expensive crap.
Yet people still go for it.
HELLO? Don't vote negative.. it works, it does what its supposed to do.There is a key difference between the fuel discount vouchers, and the 2% discount from FP.com: fuel is a necessity of life and everyone needs to buy it. We all realise there is no 30% markup on fuel so any discount is welcome, especially when used on the cheapest fuel days.
Contrast this to FP.com, which is filled almost completely with flashing LCD key rings and gadgets. None of these are a necessity of life. Would 2% be a nice discount for someone why already purchases large amounts of stock from there? Sure. Would it attract a new buyer who needs an LED torch and key ring? I really shouldn't.
I haven't voted this deal negative as I realise some may find it useful. That would be unfair.
For people who use Focalprice/Dealextreme to import this chinese junk to resell that is an extra 2% profit.
While it may not be "Bargain" for you, it certainly is not a waste of time posting.
Personally I steer clear of FP, their service is horrible and shipping is slow!
DealExtreme is much better, no questions asked refunds, and I have had stuff break 2-3 months after delivery and they have sent our a new one no questions asked.
This website is called OzBargain, and there are about 40-50 posts a day. Less than half the I would consider close to a bargain, most of them are just a bit cheaper than one of the other competitors.
While it might be "helpful" to someone, it's more likely that the people who are looking for actual bargains, will just stop using this service, because it will become irrelevant. That's the point I'm trying to make.
Maybe OzBargain has to create 2 sub-categories "general cheapish stuff" and "actual bargains".
I agree there are a lot more mediocre deals nowdays reaching the front page. Simply due to growing user numbers. A better option would be to increase your front page viewing threshold to 15 or higher.
Bah. 100OFFANYTHING doesn't work.
Ha ha 100% code.
How much did you guys pay tax when you order from HK?
- no gst in hk as well
Site doesn't work, bargain isn't a bargain, pretty average all round.
wtf? only 2% off? How stingy! Neg for me!
Bit ironic :)
LOL =D
2% is better than nothing
My advice: Stay away from focalprice.
Service sucks, they don't send you what you ordered, and often send you other things you didn't order and don't want.
Web site is broken: 404 error.
Also, a 2% saving? I do not think this qualifies as a bargain.
