An 8800GT for $499 is an appalling ripoff even if it does have 1gb of ram (which means if you have 4gb of main system RAM onboard you'll only use ~3gb)
This is the WORST price on staticice for this type of card. Other retailers have a similar card for as low as $408

8800gts 512mb was on special on the weekend for $399 at fluidtek.com.au - now $449 - still a much better buy,
