  • Does this one need to change filter once a year like the under sink one?

if the cartridge needed to be changed every year what is the benefit to use this instead of the under sink filter system which normally around $200 with free installation?

  • Hello I would like a link to the Cairns Regional Council's test conducted on this unit please otherwise I will assume it's claims are misleading like fill2pure products

    $60…

For this price better to buy yourself a heated/chilled floorstanding unit from officeworks and get the aquaport filter bottle.. Total cost around $220ish and you get a far better product

    • Different brands and that's an 8 stage, not a 10 stage, so not really comparable. I always wonder about these 'filters' though. Can they really get it all out?

  • Melbourne tap water is pretty high quality. I've been drinking it for 20 years or so and haven't had any issues…

Do we really need to remove all these things from the water??

    • Tap water tastes different in different parts of Australia, in some places it's pretty bad.

Nothing in tap water is unhealthy for you if you drink normal amounts. There are three things in tap water other than pure water:
      - mineral content (what makes "hard" water hard)
      - stuff left over from the water treatment plant (mostly chlorine)
      - some areas add fluoride for less tooth decay.

In most cases, people buy a water filter because their water tastes bad. In many cases you can dramatically improve the taste of water in simple and cheaper ways:
      - by letting it sit in a jug in the fridge for a few days
      - by boiling the water and letting it cool
      - by freezing the water and letting it melt.
All of these processes drive out most of the chlorine, improving the taste.

  • The unit pictured is not an Alps!

There are only a handful of these units that are actually made in Korea using BPA free plastic.

The rest as far as I can tell are made in China.

I wonder if this Bosco unit is in fact an Alps?!
