Melbourne's City Chase event - $150 for two people (vic only)

BlackBerryCityChase

I saw some advertisement for the melbourne City Chase on a tram and thought I'd check it out. Its on tomorrow and is basically an urban scavanger hunt event that's run all over the world. Looks like a great day out even if the price is a little steep.
Here's a video of a past one in sydney but it gives you the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0_K2yNG9O8

Anyway, the coupon saves your pair $25, so its $150 instead of $175 for two people

best of luck!

  • It doesn't say what you WIN. You don't need to spend that much to experience Experience Laughter, Adventure and Discovery!
Hence, in my opinion (even after the $25 reduction), it's not a bargain.

  • sounds good but they are very vague about what exactly the prizes are - is it a drink bottle or a car? (they are sponsored by hyundai)

  • If you dont know what you might win, never fear you will be highly unlikely to win. What you will do, is have a whole bunch of great fun. It is a bargain, in that you are getting a discount on the event. I don't tend to do City events, but if I could save 25 bucks on a regular Adventure Race I would definitely consider it a bargain.

    • ?? I looked at their site - the prizes are nowhere to be found? what exactly are you trying to say? What I'm saying is that by not printing the prizes they can substitute whatever they want eg. even a drink bottle - which would be quite lame for a $150 entry fee.

There are other "races" like this for example the melbourne city romp - which is cheaper , proceeds go to charity and they stated their prizes. (prize pool was 100k)

  • I've done this 3 years in a row and only missed out on the Sydney one this year due to being on holidays overseas. You win some really good prizes if you come in the top 3. However you can still win randomly (randomly selected e.g. best team name etc). In previous prizes included mobile phones, sports gear, etc. First place usually gets to compete in the World City chase.

That price looks like the same as the early bird pricing if you register early enough. It is still a saving and what you get out of the day for $75pp is a worthy experience. For $75 pp you get to experience new things, explore some new places around the city and get a meal too. You also get a t shirt and hat and sometimes a bag and drink bottle with other random goodies. To some people it's not worthy of a bargain but for some fans of amazing race and urban adventure racing, this is probably as close as we are going to get to participating in one.

  • +1

This is no bargain in my books.
Might be fun if you are into it but $150? Nah, no thanks.
OzBARGAIN, not OzPromotion of average to possibly pissweak scavenger hunt-run -thing.

  • Great! Now lottery is classified as a Bargain - is it?

  • Looks great, I've always wanted to do one of these. I see people doing them like every week in the city.
But for $150 I really should just go get myself something nice.

  • from the site: "The first team to complete the required ChasePoints and cross the finish line WINS"

…………..Wins what? for $150 entry, every person competing should get a heap of freebies!! My view is that the organisation is really low on registrations and must meet a certain quota before the sponsors hand out prizes to give. Doesnt look too promising!
