From an energy usage point of view - it's an expensive option using PS3 + PlayTV to watch/record TV which will consume 250-300 watts on top of what your TV already uses.

Buying a good set top box consumes 20-30W, while a PVR is closer to 50W. Do the math!

  I think you will find that peak in Games is 200watts. So it will be less than that.
