Usenetbucket - 25% off Easter Discount - 'Basic Bucket' Unlimited 12 Month Plan - EUR 31.85 (~ $35 AUD)

80

Usenetbucket is a good value provider, that I have been using for the last couple of years for my usenet 'requirements'

Currently have a promo of 25% off automatically as an Easter promotion for existing users, so you can sign up to a free trial (7days) and then pay for a plan with a 25% discount (and afterwards go 'hunting' for easter eggs to save future 20/25/30% discounts for next year)
From their email:
As of right now until the 31st of March (11:00 CET), we offer you a 25% discount on your next order.

A yearly 'Basic' bucket (1100 days contention, unlimited data, 20 connections, 10Mbps speed limit) comes to about $35AUD after the 25% discount and converting from their EUR 31.85/12 month cost to AUD (without any paypal or conversion fees).

If you can live with the 10Mbps speed limit its a bargain and I have very very little issues with missing files in my linux distro downloads.

So:
1)
Sign up for a free 7 day trial (via 'connect with facebook' for some additional quota)
2) Then go to
- https://www.usenetbucket.com/en/extend/ultimate/easter2016/
and sign up for a plan with a 25% discount

Great value, and feel free to use my referral link for the initial free trial sign up and earn an additional 14 days of access

I've been using Usenetbucket's 10mbit unlimited as a backup server for a few months now and am quite pleased. Just purchased a year's worth at 25% off, cheers SBOB :)

    Who is their parent provider?
Also, you have the non sale price in in EUR, but the sale price in AUD.

For everyone else, they also have a 40mbit plan (which should saturate most of our piddly connections) for:
€39.38 (or a little under $60AUD) for the same 12 month deal (just 4x faster).

XSNEWS. This would be a good primary account for most people. I have not seen any incompletes with my current setup:

      Primary - Cheapnews
Backup Block 1 - Usenet Farm (uses their own cache, xsnews and horrible Highwinds)
      Backup Block 2 - Astraweb

EDIT - I find this a very helpful link for anyone looking for multiple backends http://www.usenet-providers.net/newsgroup-resellers.php

apoligies for the confusion (cant seem to edit it now)
31.85EUR is their 'standard' basic bucket price, so $47.37 AUD, -25% = $35.50 AUD (give or take the current exchange rate + how you pay)

indeed they do, but being on boring adsl2, for almost 1/2 the price the basic bucket is a pretty impressive deal with unlimited quota

    • If you buy the slow plan and hate it - can you pay to upgrade to the quicker one?

      • No. Use the trial account to assist you making a decision

  • Usenetbucket vs Easynews?

I've been on easynews forever but always curious what other providers are like / differences between them.

unless you're finding quite a bit of incomplete d/l's, then there's no advantage.

different backbone provider (Highwinds v XSNews) but as supabrudda says, the only difference is possible incomplete files which can occur to varying degrees on differing backbone providers (and why having a backup account on a different backbone provider is always a handy recommendation)

  • Thanks all for the responses.
