    • I'll help the rep out. The EF is Electric Field. In EF mode the meter will beep when you bring it within 10mm of a live wire at 220V 50Hz. This is a non-contact mode, you're supposed to detach the test leads and just bring the meter tip close to the point you're checking. There is also a built-in spring-loaded plastic hood that covers the metal probe on the meter to stop it contacting a live wire when you do an EF check.

      • Makes sense. Stupid to spell out all the boring stuff in massive detail then use an acronym for something that is a reasonably uncommon feature. I've seen the non contact EF on a few high end meters, I wonder how good this cheap one is?
