Just FYI, the developers are no longer updating beautiful widget, the last update was on April 2015. There's also issues with the clock/weather not updating :( read the reviews for more info

Get HD Widgets folks! I have both (way before they stopped updating it) and HD Widgets looks much better in my opinion. Plus it always goes on sale.

Damn. And I saw this after the refund window closed. The sane part of me says "it's only 20c", the Ozbargain part of me says this stings like 1000 bees.

Haha if it's any concession Beautiful widgets is actually more recent being last updated Apr 15 and 20c compared to HD widgets as recommended by spaghettiman which was last updated in Jan 15 and is on sale at 99c.

Looking at the update history its mostly bugfixes anyway for both with no major updatea.

Afaik there was a stage where the HTC phone's clock/weather style was very popular and these 2 apps and their clock and weather widgets pretty much allowed other phones to copy and use it.

$0.20 is just the start for Kingdom Rush.
InApp purchases up to US$15 each.

Thanks for never telling OzB members this stuff, despite knowing.

Paid app with 'free to play' model = no bargain

Whilst I agree with your statement, Kingdom Rush Origins has no necessary InApp Purchases

        • what bout the heroes?

        • @captobvious:

They aren't necessary, they just make life easier. There are a few free ones too.

Agreed. Google have the decency (legal smarts?) to advise people are only buying part of the gaming experience…

…Yet people here choose to hide it. Strange.

I played a fair bit of Kingdom Rush from a humble bundle iirc IAP is for consumable powerups and not game progression. Just grabbed this one and the IAP is in the same style and you can watch ads for 100 gems.

Real Steel which is still up as the 20c game app of the week was a real bummer. Frequent popups advertising 50perc off a robot of the day and once I hit 2nd set of medium difficulty on tournament it became impossible to progress as the enemy bots became much more aggressive with punches and comboes that were ridiculously fast pressuring you into buying a bot with a higher level of armor, power and speed.

Anyhow paying for all the weekly apps and games of the week using google play credits from google opinion rewards app so no regrets with Real Steel.

edit: on the gem topic I just earned 54 playing the first level

Thanks for the warning, I was tempted to try Real Steel.

For me, part of the fun of Kingdom Rush is to try to pass the level without using powerups.

It's best to wait for Google to have a special sale on IAP for the heroes if you like the game enough to want to unlock more characters. Otherwise, there's nothing much else to buy in app wise.

  • Thanks OP
