  • What's geek buying like? Any issues with this site??

I might get one of these

    • Previous deals have been voted good and well received. Issues normally only arise when there are presales with limited stock, but these 2 products are instock with plenty of units.

      • I disagree. This item was in stock with 2 - 7 days shipping time. It took over 30 days to ship and have to wait another 15 - 30 days for it to arrive. Others have had issues as well here and here. I'd put them right up there with GearBest and BangGood. Having a marketing rep here doesn't fix issues with the store.

        • You are mistaken. It actually says normally ships in 2-7 days and the free shipping is advertised as 15-30 days. The MXQ Rk3229 post said that it was on presale until the 27th of January, so it would have been shipped between 2 and 7 days after that date.

Your second link I've already explained in detail there. As for your third link, there were delays from the Chinese New Year where companies including China Post and TNT take a week off.

@Clear: Ok… Ordered on the 6th of February (well after 27th Jan), shipped 10th March. That's 33 days! Well outside the 'normally ships in 2-7 days' time frame. You can explain all you want. That's your job. You are let down by the store!

        • @princo60: Okay that one is different and I agree that it's not acceptable.

I'm always happy to try and help. If you don't want it that's fine.

        • +1

@Clear: so from that what happened? was princo60 offered say $20 credit on his next purchase or something? 33 days to wait for it to be shipped? that is disgraceful, and just saying its unacceptable is unacceptable. What actions were taken?

        • @BeRad: I'm marked as 3rd Party Marketing on Ozbargain instead of Store Rep as I'm not an employee of Geekbuying. I can definitely ask for some form of compensation if he wants it, but the decision will be up to customer service.

Geekbuying is great, and we're lucky to have Clear on here to bring us A++ deals. he is very knowledgeable as well not just some average sales/marketing rep

    • No issue. My shipping has been very very slow, but I knew it would be based on the shipping method I chose. I've seen reports paying a bit more will get it there a lot quicker.

      • my stuff arrives, yes shipping is slow because I choose the cheapest method so no surprises for me ….. you have shipping options and can pay extra if you want it quicker ….. I prefer cheap and slow.

  • I have the cherrytrail version of this and it's pretty rubbish at running windows tbh. It's ok for Kodi but crashes a fair bit even then.

    • It should be running fine if you're not trying to use it as a desktop replacement that is normally running an i3, i5 or i7. Win 8.1/10 has been optimised to run on this kind of hardware.

    • mine works fine as a media player …. lags if you open several apps at once, I tend to use the Windows more than the Android boot. None of these mini pcs are a desktop replacement, you either run a browser, media player, etc but not too many apps at once.

For desktop replacement need i3 minimum, and that will cost 3x as much e.g NUC so that you can add extra ram and have a sata bus for the HD.

USB ports use the CPU for processing and that is where the mini pcs can slow down, i/o several apps cpu bogs down.

But great for low power media players or torrent clients or servers.

Stay away from geekbuying & Tronsmart haven't had good experience

    • Anything I can help with?

    • I've had great experiences, stuff arrives in 30 days and it's cheap. Only bad experience is that they don't supply proper australian plug packs, but often just add an australian travel adapter to a US plug pack.

  • Is the AC adapter an Australian plug or does it need an adapter???

    • US plug with an adapter included. A travel adapter if you've got one will work better.

  • Will try

  • thanks, Have use your store and the follow up has been good. One more step to go.

Is the android current and can it be upgraded on next issue? thanks

What I cannot find is how the android used as I can not find a demostration of use? do you know of link?. To use will we need Air fly mouse and seperate mini keyboard if not touch supported?

    Thanks

    • It's only running Android 4.4 Kitkat.

This video shows it in action. Without a touchscreen monitor you're going to need a keyboard and mouse or an airmouse to control it. I personally use a Logitech K400R.

      • Thanks Maybe this is Logitech K400R. And might be real clearence price at D/smiths http://www.dicksmith.com.au/logitech/logitech-wireless-deskt… but maybe price match elsewhere will work. Geekbuying Air Fly mouse sale etc finishes soon ?

        • $29.99 seems to be the cheapest currently and I don't think OW will price match DS.

I don't know about any specific airmouse sales at GB currently, but any should work if they list Android and Windows as compatible.

        • @Clear: Sorry my bad it waa and Add on in Amazon. The $us9 deal should be finished.

Another Question can the 64gb be upgraded or add in for memory internally? Thanks.

If not external hard drive may work? But the for Internet, office use, [save on onedrive] may solve the over download.

        • +1

@Kevan2: It can't be upgraded as it's eMMC memory found in phones. An external hard drive will work.

        • @Clear: Now to budget. Thanks.

  • At AU$115.84 this gets you cherry trail + 1 x USB 3.0

    • Interesting but I did not see android function?
