For those who don't have a Big W nearby, it's $34 at Harvey Norman until 31st March and also at Officeworks.

Do they have CC2 or is that excluded?

    • Didn't see one there

    • Big W don't sell CC2 as of yet, although it can be found within store inventory management.

not sure why you would buy an inferior product for 15$ less

    • are you saying the chrome cast is bad? I'm confused lol

      • +3

He's saying the new one is worth paying the extra $15.

    • what can the C2 do that the C1 cant???

      • +6

It can look like a hockey puck in three different colours.

Lmfao I hate the smell of those things!

      Serious question?

Why pay 45% more, for 0% improvement. This is OzBargain, and there is zero benefit for me.

You'll notice the difference if you've got Wireless AC 5ghz equipment and live in an apartment block surrounded by Wireless N devices like me. I've already bought my CC2 off the eBay sale for $47 odd and dont regret it.

      • +1

It starts streaming faster and it buffers less.

  • +1

Second that. If it's $25 less than cc2. I'll buy.

Plus 10% off with gift card

      • Lol good luck finding one. They're all gone.

        • Yeh the lady told me so many 'Asians' came in and got them all. I managed to get the last gift card at Waverly Gardens

Cc2 is $46.40 (plus postage if relevant) at Bing Lee and $47.20 at Good Guys as part of the current eBay tech sale. Got mine yesterday. No big differences noticed yet, but I do like that I can run it over my 5ghz network so that it doesn't interfere with the baby monitor.

Our house is an odd 2 storey, with microwaves, baby monitor, tablets, laptops, 2 chromecast 1's… Never had a problem. And we're still running an OLD low-medium Billion 2.4Ghz modem/router. Only obvious thing: I need to back my torrents off for a Skype call.

  • What does cc2 do that cc1 doesn't? Just 5ghz? Does that improve streaming quality?

    • yes but there have been reports on whirlpool that it has trouble picking up the 5Ghz signal/5ghz makes no difference.

      • No trouble with mine with 5ghz, only thing is it gets very hot which is a bit of concerning

      • +1

2.4GHz constantly drops out for me on the CC1 but the CC2 with 5GHz can stream 1080p fine.

    • +1

I just picked up a Chromecast 2 so I'd have a Chromecast for the spare room and there's not that much of a difference. It feels a little snappier and supports 5GHz wifi but whether it's worth the extra $20 depends on how much you need 5GHz.

    • And supports wireless ac.

  • Possible to price beat 5% off at OW ?

    • Most likely not because this is a percentage off sale, which officeworks don't match.

  • CC2 is $38 - why would you buy CC1? CC2 has faster wifi and 5Ghz

    • Where from?

      • COTD

        • Got a link, I cant find it on COTD?

    • is? you mean was.

  • Don't forget that you can also buy BIG W gift cards at BIG W at 10% discount (until Wed 16 March):

    • They will get more back in stock probably after the deal ends.

  • Went to Big W Joondalup. It scanned at $48.The girl knew nothing about the deal.I left empty handed.

  • Sorry for the noob question but does anyone know if JB will price match this? I have a $30 voucher to use!
    Cheers

  • Has this deal worked for anyone? The man at the counter had no idea and when scanned it was $48. I Left with nothing
