Optus Prepaid LG Leon $79.20 at Optus eBay

CTECHIE

Something for those looking for a budget-friendly phone…LG Leon for $79.2 at Optus eBay store

Decent value for the price. Not as cheap as the Telstra Buzz or ZTE Fit Smart, but this one is compatible with both 850 and 900MHz on 3G, (Telstra Buzz is 850/2100 while Optus ZTE Fit Smart is 900/2100)

Compatible with LTE Band 28 (700MHz) as well.

Snapdragon 410, 8GB internal memory, micro-SD slot.

Unless you really need the close-to-stock UI on the Moto G, this is much better value.

Unlocking is fairly cheap too, at around $4-6 for most eBay sellers.

Update: I have managed to get hold of a box and it says LTE 700/800/1800/2300/2600, so a localised version of the device. It's labelled as H340Y on the box.

Update 2: The Big W catalogue is over so this is now most likely the cheapest price for this phone.

    • Thanks for that, Cheers

    • Big W catalogue finishes today

  • You're missing a zero at the end of the price.
    $79.20

  • "Compatible with LTE Band 28 (700MHz) as well."
Are you sure? GSMArena lists its 700MHz as band 12, which I believe is not the same. Optus do list 700MHz, but then again this is one of the trio who advertised a minimum charge as a "cap" :-/

    • Could be the North American version of the device with Band 12…

      • Yep but the other version didn't list band 28 either. Still, GSM have got it wrong before, tho I doubt anyone would build one specially for the small Aussie market. None of my phones have it, but I do notice that Amaysim will drop to 3G on a train journey to town and in the station [Adelaide] wheras Voda have 4G all the way [ 2 journeys with SIM's swapped 2nd time, Oppo find 7 vs Xperia Z]. Maybe if someone who has one can take it down the bacl of the supermarket for a test…?

I bought it yesterday from bigw and pleased with it. All my apps are updated now and the phone runs like a charm.

    • do you rate it better than the Y550 you had?

Hell, yes! Buy it without any doubt. Have all my apps installed (No Games!), and still has 1.35 GB left. I say, best for senior people (Mom/Dad etc.) and first smartphone for youngsters.

Only one complaint, it does not have any blinker on it (No notification LED/Light).

  • Just an update, in Melbourne both Big W QV and Forest Hill are out of stock.

  • Between this and the Huawei Ascent Y635 which is also the same price and from the same shop, which would be better?

    • Y635 doesn't support 850MHz for 3G if you intend to use it on Telstra or Voda, and doesn't support 2300Mhz 4G either.

      • Oh, good thing I thought to ask. Thanks for the info!
