Don't forget there is a $4.95 activation fee on each flight centre gift card. To maximize your discount buy this with a discounted Coles gift card (usually 5% off) to offset the activation fee
so you're overpaying on flights by much more than you make out of a 10 dollar Coles voucher
I hardly see the bargain here
Well.. From my own experience, FC we deal with pricematches everything.. so combine with the constant bombardment of ozbargain deals, suddenly additional 10% off sounds really cool..
If you use 5% off Coles Giftcard to buy these,it may be worthwhile.Otherwise, only about 5% discount.
Does FC charge booking fees, credit/card fees and the like?
I've never trusted them after being quoted $800 over what a carrier website told me, and being told that these were cheap seats and "only 3 left, they won't last" etc etc.
@Sir Casm: the agent I used won't charge any additional fee if it was a price match. Otherwise I will get charged 1.1% for VISA/MasterCard and $39 per person of booking fee.
Seems like an obsolete service in this day and age.
If you will book a flight this week, find the best price and ask and confirm with FlightCenter to beat by $1.Then you head to Coles to buy these Giftcards to put them into immediate use.
Didn't know they had such a service. Does it work on budget domestic flights like jetstar and tiger?
So long as the flight exists in their system.Make sure you mention you will pay by Giftcard for the price beat flight as some branches only accept Cash/Credit card for it.
We tried this before with discounted flight centre gift cards (from the woollies promo) and with Jetstar flights. In our experience they only price match the net cost of jetstar inclusive of their booking + credit card fees. Not based on the cost of a bank transfer amount. So we declined and ended up booking it online ourselves and paid via direct deposit.
@mikec: yes, while my experience with FC for the full service flight pricematch is top notch, same cannot be said for the budget airlines (scoot and air asia) due to exactly what you described. It was a labour intensive exercise on their part and apparently they make no commission out of budget airlines too so I felt a bit guilty for less than 5% of discount from Woolworths deal after the fees.. won't be doing that again.
Is this deal definitely expired?
The first rule of Fightcenter is we don't talk about Fightcenter :)
