    Great product/offer well done!.

Horrible product, you can get superior free product that do exactly the same. Norton has been horrible for a long time now, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Unless you want to slow your computer down, and cause it to crash every now and again.

Ahh another wannabe expert. They will be flooding the thread by the end of the day.

    • You have some good points for those technical enough or to have it installed by someone or to know where to get said software etc.

For others this represents a good deal in my opinion especially if you take in to account the bonuses which are a nice package deal.

My work are currently looking at something like this as a solution for the staff and i think i will be recommending this

      • Not a bad idea.
Sell the tickets for $75 each, keep the remote for "work" and you've got free Anti Virus.

News flash - IT departments LOVE software like this because it has a well-known name and makes them sound like they know what they are doing. Secretly, they know it'll cause problems later on, so they can justify their jobs by fixing the problems it causes. Otherwise they'd just sit around reading emails all day and twiddling their thumbs, which people will eventually notice. If they truly believe this is a 'solution' they definitely don't have a clue.

I was fired from a full-time job once because I installed lots of freeware or open source software that kept my IT department going like clockwork with little administrator intervention. The bosses noticed me sitting around doing not-very-much all day, and decided I wasn't needed anymore. A month later I was called back to fix all the problems my replacement caused, because he made them spend thousands of dollars on proprietary software that didn't work. He tried to make himself look like a hero fixing all the issues it caused. Eventually the company called me back in to consult, I put everything back the way it was and five years later everything is still working like clockwork. I just consult for them maybe once or twice a year now. If computers were perfect, nobody would need IT departments, that's why software like Norton 360 flourishes. It creates a niche market for problem-solvers.

You obviously have not used any of the later Symantec products, Norton has been very good the last couple of releases.

  • so how much would the racing ticket be separately? I'm trying to work out the amount of $$ saved… as all ozbargainers like to do… :)

  • gee…then it sounds almost too good to be true LOL
although I'm in syd so dont think i will fly down just for that…

    • It really does , wondering how to get to the redemption terms & conditions page

  • Antivirus software and V8 car racing? Who wouldve thunk!

    • Gota keep the viruses off the cars mate, else the viruses might CRASH the car!

    Download Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

    It has the following advantages:
    - its free.
    - its incredibly lightweight.
    - it is made by the same people who wrote your operating system.
    - its easy to use.

I doubt this Norton360 product can match any of the above.

Just google "MSE" for a link to download. Of course you must be running genuine windows (so that would count Stix out)

On occasion people have had to pay me hundreds of dollars in hourly call-out fees to remove Norton garbage from their computers. It slows their computers down to a crawl, eats up memory, doesn't actually do anything better than free packages, and removing the bloated mess takes hours. When you think you've removed it all, more of it pops up and tries to auto-update itself.

Personally I'd rather pay full price for V8 Supercar tickets, just so Norton don't get any of my money. Back in the '80s they produced some great software, but that time has long gone.

If you buy this for just the tickets and the remote control, it's probably a good deal. But please throw the software in the rubbish so you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars or waste countless hours fixing all the problems you'll have from installing it.

I'd buy the software, use the tickets and keep the remote then return the software to Norton for a full refund.

Norton do offer a full refund if you are unhappy.

    I haven't tried V4, but V3 and V2 were utter rubbish.

If you're going for this deal, make sure you count the fact this anti-virus is as good as worth $0. Here in the Telstra call centre, the first troubleshooting questions we ask contain "Are you running Norton products?", that's not near an overstatement at all. The Norton products use a considerable amount more idle CPU than most other anti-virus products, and have hooks inside the networking processes (causing crazy amounts of instability for your network connection).

If you don't mind having your computer slowed down, Norton does offer some of the better virus recognition definitions around..

  • You guys reckon someone might buy those tix off me if I buy this?

  • Symantec should just sell us cheap Logitech remotes without the other stuff ;-)
