Since when did Lalor, Ivanhoe and Rosanna become "convenient locations"?

Looks like it's convenient only for those living in the Northern suburbs…

for those living in the Northern suburbs…

      or eastern suburbs…

      • +1

I think you have to cross the Yarra river to be calling your suburb an eastern suburb. I prefer to go with "Inner North" for Heidelberg/Rosanna.

It's a bit like calling your shop address on Bell Street "Ivanhoe", which is really Heidelberg Heights. You'd need to be on the other side of Banksia Street to be Ivanhoe.

(don't take it personally OP, I lived in Heidelberg Heights most of my life, though obviously had aspirations for the other side of Banksia Street too).

Rosanna/Heidelberg Heights isn't that convenient to save "up to $40" on your laundry if you have to cross the eastern freeway - particularly when you consider the parking situation at the Rosanna Road / Lower Plenty Road intersection. Though there's plenty of parking outside the Repat., just avoid travelling up Banksia street in peak hour!

Ivanhoe to Kew/Balwyn is about 5 mins on Burke Rd. It's around 3km.

        • +2

@jv: 5km from the other side of the Eastern Freeway to Bell street Heidelberg Heights, or 6km to the Rosanna location.
You'd be doing well to get there in 5 minutes - but none the less, point taken.

(living out of Australia for the last 3 years has diminished my local knowledge, and made me prone to exaggeration on traffic expectations).

        • +2

The area encompassing Waterdale rd, Bell st., Upper Heidelburg rd and Banksia st became Ivanhoe a year or so ago, Heidelberg Heights now stops at Bell st.

        • Trust us @braddsey…..we sometimes find it hard to explain as well…that council changed the post code more than a year ago. I'm glad this thread at least clarified the location address & not confuse people.

      Down with the bourgeois!

    • +7

It's a common phrase. Don't be too hard on them. It's a freebie, in 3 locations.

      • @ Utopian Thanks for the support

  • +1

If this is for a free wash, then why limit it to Doonas? Couldn't this technically be used for an extraordinarily big wash instead??

    • +3

Yes…very smart pick up, practically this deal can be used for any big load..hopefully everyone understands this & avail the opportunity :-)

      • -4

Damn, wish i was closer…always got a big load that needs washing out

        • Thanks for the contribution.

        • +1

@pmupsinep: you could use this offer to wash your doona after all the furious gnipmupsinep

          And your trench coat

  • +4

Time for everyone to wash all their sportsdirect clothes instead of opening new ones…

  • +1

This only covers washing… you'll be broke paying for the dryer

    • Or break your back carrying out a heavy wet doona to your car once it's washed!

    • +1

@ KaptnKaos- Washing doonas in any coin laundry costs at least "$10" and if you get it dry cleaned it's at least $39
Dryers at our laundry run on Gas and not more than 24 min is required to dry a doona..which costs "$3". We had choice to make dryer free or washing free….We thought to give away wash free as it gives more value to people & doonas cann't be washed at home.

@jv….. Thanks for high lighting this important feature on our website. Our current customers love this feature. i would like to share a story here.
There is this young couple, who on every Saturday night leave their children with fiends for couple of hours & come to our laundromat to do their weekly laundry, relax on massage chairs & watch the latest movie of the week. They call it their date night :-)

      • There is this young couple, who on every Saturday night leave their children with fiends for couple of hours & come to our laundromat to

I would have stopped that sentence there….

      • +3

        leave their children with fiends

        what ???

        • Childcare is expensive - cheaper to pay the fiends with their drugs of choice

          No-brainer really

        • +1

hey can we leave out criticism of the Catholic Church in this post please!

          @shmahoo:

It's in Bell St, not Pell St….

Now i have to fly to VIC for a wash? !

    • +1

Bringing your doona as carry on luggage?

      • +1

Like anyone would carry on a doona. He will buy one when he gets there …obviously.

        • Hop over to Spotlight!

      • +2

        Nah, wear it.

  • Hi op, does this mean we'll have to pay for the drying? Just wanna confirm.

    • That's a certainty.

    • Yes @hashtagbargain….drying cost is only $3

  • +2

+1 because it's free. LOL at the "Three convenient Locations in VIC".

  • +2

Not a deal. Free for a year on your website.

    • @psy Thanks for your input, that is our ongoing campaign to educate & prompt people to wash doonas regularly for dust mites prevention & that's why this link is provided but for One Free Doona wash no registration required.

  • How much is your drying for big load (or a doona)?

    • Usually it take 24 min to dry a load of 18kg or K/Q Doonas, which costs $3.

  • Can I fit my king size mattress tipper?

    • King Size Doonas can fit in 18kg wash with enough room to tumble so I believe Mattress topper can fit too.

  • +1

OP should change the post to include the link provided by psy

My experience with washing machines at laundrettes is that they always leave the clothes wetter than my home machine does. I figure that's on purpose, to make you spend more in the dryer. Thankfully, we have a laundrette nearby that doesn't mind you only using the dryer, so the doona is the only thing I need to wash at the laundrette.

    • @ catbrain Thanks for your input.

Our's is a brand new setup with Speed Queen machines (leader in Industrial washing machines). The spin & rinse cycle of these machines is twice the strength of domestic washers. Usually not more than $3 is required to dry a load of 18kg or a Doona.

    • Not any wetter than my machine at home! The branch I go to in Lalor is awesome! The massage chair is my favourite part while waiting for the machine to finish :)
I personally prefer to keep the doona in the dryer for 32 minutes just cuz it's the perfect amount of time for me to pick up takeaway food (many Vietnamese & Chinese restaurants nearby), pick up wash, and head home while food is still hot!

  • Thanks everyone for your positive contribution. Please feel free to share with family & friends who can benefit from the free wash offer.

Hope to meet few of you at the stores enjoying the "Me-Time"

    Great offer Green Earth Laundry.

In my 37 years on earth, I've never used a laundromat unless overseas, but always wondered how they stay in business with rent etc.

I have a 10kg front loader, so no issues washing doonas at home.

If I had the money I would have Speed Queen washer and gas dryer at home.

The only thing I know about laundromats have been from Seinfeld.

  • Thanks JB1, we bought Speed Queen after much research and it really is a good brand. We started the laundry business two years back with Rosanna just the baby only a year old. All the machines were bought brand new and till date they have been heavily used but hasn't had any mechanical or part failure issues. The customers feed back has been very positive and is available on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GreenEarthLaundry/reviews/).

As they say, The proof of pudding is in the eating !!!

  • It is a business chain and Rosanna Laundromat was opened last year. On the other note - Congratulations to all those members who have started registering for the "Free Doona wash for One year".

  • +1

Just checked out the live status. What happens on the Lucky cycle?

  • +1

Lucky cycle is when the system is set to provide free washes after every so many washes for e.g. every 100th wash is free. It is to create fun & some excitement for the in store customers.

    • +1

Your landromat may just be a funner place than disneyland!

      • +1

:-)….We wish that too comes true, we want to change the traditional impression of laundromats.
Laundromats : Save time, Water, electricity, reduce carbon footprint
