The Windows version is only US$20. Scroll down a bit to find it.

Scrivener is a pain to use, but it is much better than anything else out there.

If someone's planning to start writing, do yourself a favour and go watch one of the YouTube Scrivener tutorials first. Start with one on outlining.

    • There are so many options (including some good free software) that all have the same problems, either a lot of flexibility with a steep learning curve or a very specific method that works great… IF you happen to write that way. I have tried many and they all do one thing very well… provide ample excuses for procrastination or keeping you from just writing. I keep going back to keeping index cards in my pocket for notes as they come to me and typing in a word processor or writing in a notebook whatever comes to me. That might be one of the reasons I remain unpublished (except on websites I can't link to here :D )

It's almost as if software developers don't customise their product to my exact brain.

        Bastards.

        • You expect too much. I'm self-aware enough to realise it's an issue with my inflexibility and other shortcomings… not the software. I purchased this software and Scapple when appsumo had it on special last time. Maybe if I persist I might find it more useful.
