VideoRedo Upgrade from Old Version to TVSuite Version 5 for $35 ($65 from Tuesday)

140

If you have an old version of the VideoRedo video editing software and want to upgrade to the latest version, the Australian reseller HyperReality is selling upgrades quite a bit cheaper than the US company (http://www.videoredo.com/en/Purchase.htm)

While this will be attractive to only a small group of people, the price rises after 15th Feb

  • Is it a discount, or a threat? :)

VideoRedo Plus was my favourite for simple frame-accurate cutting of MPEG-2 videos, but don't use it much nowadays because it doesn't support more recent codecs/formats, an the cost to upgrade was a bit high for me.

To upgrade from VideoRedo Plus, namesake's site charges US$46.99, whilst HyperReality wants AUD$35.00. Tempting…

I used previous VideoRedo Plus to transfer Topfield-recorded files into MPEG2, whilst removing ads using it's 'AdDetective'. The only negative I know of is that it don't support teletext-based DVB subtitles recorded used in Australia.

So, … what will TV Suite V5 do for me today?

    • I used VideoRedo for a similar purpose (removing ads from files off my PVR). The files from the new HD channels (eg. 9HD) couldn't be edited with the old app so I upgraded to v5. Of course, there are other ways to do it but I was happy with the software.

AFAIK, VideoRedo Plus can handle all MPEG2 files, regardless of resolution. What specifically couldn't it do?

Sorry for not being specific - it wasn't the resolution that was the problem but the format (MPEG4) as BiotBargain has mentioned.

9HD is MPEG4 which is available in TV Suite. Some problem will occur when 7 switches over shortly to broardcast in both formats like 9.
