    Don't forget your rules are not in the .pst file. You need to export these manually.

        rules can be used to filter/sort messages, like putting all the emails from one organisation into its own folder. its very useful.

        @Trantor: in my experience, backup of outlook data is about the ability of recovering "mission critical" type of data. Rules are nice for those who bother use them but I am sure not a lot of people use them. Anyway, if that is your main concern just make a full copy of the user folder in the C drive and it will backup it up and everything else as well.

        @stellaaddicted: I was just explaining what rules are lol ive used them in the past but not at the moment lol I just back up manually what needs backing up to a pst file

  i Use the free Puresync software with a lot of my clients. It's presets will backup all outlook files as well as documents, desktop etc
