Oz Stock: Samsung Note 5 64GB $899, Galaxy S6 64GB $665/128GB $764 Delivered @ Mobileciti eBay

460
CRUSHONYOU

I have been trying hard to convince Mobileciti from last two weeks to drop their price on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (64GB model). Finally, they were able to get us a better price for 100% Australian stock with 2 year local Samsung warranty

You'll also get further 10% off by using eBay 10% promotional code.

So the final price would be $899.10, after the 10% off coupon, which is insane for the 64GB Australian Stock.

This is the cheapest option for Australian 64GB version at the moment.

They normally dispatch same or next business day. You can also collect immediately from the Parramatta store if you wish.

GST invoice included & TRS eligible.

Drop it $200 and I'll consider this gimped phone (sorry, not your fault)

    • gimped phone? That's one way to describe it :p

      • So annoyed at all the features they pulled. The N6 may fix some of that up if S7 rumours are true

  • +6

I'm skipping Note 4 and 5 for the Note 6 release later this year. Worth the wait IMO. Rumours are larger screen, 16 Core, 4K screen, microSD slot, larger battery, S pen kick stand.

    • +12

you must get disappointed every year then.

      • +5

        Wait for the Note 7.

      • +2

Not every year :). The N4 is certainly a better phone than N3 for those wanting to upgrade from N3 in 2014/2015 but the N5 is a real disappointment for the Note fans. Samsung is listening and they are bringing back what they took out as well as making the N6 a killer phablet.

        • +1

To some Note fans. The Note 5 still seems to be pretty popular. I think it's only the more tech-minded buyers who are disappointed at the lack of microSD expansion and/or removable battery. They're the minority though.

        • +1

@eug: totally agree, and this is a 64GB version, which is more than enough for a normal user

        • +1

          Weird.

I think Samsung just throws everything against a wall to see what sticks without much listening (or thought seemingly) at all.

Hence the devices are brimming with stupid features that no one uses.

        • -1

          @OzSikhs: No it isn't.

A "normal" wants as much storage as possible.

Do you think people are going to say "Oh yeah the 64GB phone is just as good as the 128GB phone, I'd never use that".

That's what no one ever said.

The correct answer is there is never enough storage.

        • @Diji1: WARNING: an isheep detected….

        • @Diji1:

Thank you for excluding the rest of the world due to your personal requirements.

        • @OzSikhs: I'm certainly not interested in a phone with limited storage. How is it possible that phone companies are removing something that was originally requested of them? Samsung makes a killing from ALL their other products, so increasing internal memory for a phone, and segregating users to purchase different storage sizes is a bad move.
Personally, I'm looking to0 Nexus phones and other brands because I'm horrified that they would remove the external storage option that their main users absolutely loved.
If you have stuck with Samsung for a while, you become used to the idea that you can expand storage. Removing that option is a bad business decision, and unpopular with A LOT of Samsung users.

        • Don't think the Note 3 to the 4 was a great jump, I did that, however the 5 never interested me.

        • +1

After buying a 64GB 6P I honestly think SD cards are a dying technology.

        • +2

          @PandaKitty92:

That's what they said for floppy's, and CD drives. SD cards got killed off because its much more stable to have the one internal storage. Apple have done it for years too, for good reason.

Most people can use 64gb over the lifetime of their phone (1-3 years) and rarely if ever need to transfer files. Especially with popularity of spotify/play music, the storage is rly only taken up by videos and games these days. And if you shoot a lot of 4k videos, you should probably learn to backup and/or use a dedicated device.

        • +1

          @PandaKitty92:

and unpopular with A LOT of Samsung users.

They certainly still seem to be doing well. Looks like it definitely isn't "A LOT".

A lot of techy users maybe.

        • @venu:

I've salvaged camera pictures for people off an SD card after their phone died. For those people the SD card was a life saver.

But I have to admit I've also seen SD cards die and take the pictures with them.

        • +1

@OzSikhs: Well that in itself is deceptive. Idiot Samsung didn't release the 64 to this country for 2 or 3 months after the initial launch.
          Idiocy!

  • +1

This is a good price but isn't it about to drop anyway with the new Samsung releases just around the corner?
I almost purchased this one but it's gold.

    • I'm happy to be proven wrong, but i think with 64GB Australian version, this is the only cloud option available, I checked everywhere including Samsung website, Gold is the only option.

    • +1

The new Samsung devices expected next week will be the smaller Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge - the Note 5 remains the current model in the larger Note range for the time being - a new model isn't expected until ~ August 2016.

    • +1

I got the 64Gold version, it actually looks really slick. Had the same hesitation about the gold colour but it's good!

  • +2

"So the final price would be $899.10, after the 10% off coupon, which is insane for the 64GB Australian Stock."
yeah, but actually still insane if anyone really buying this..
    way too expensive…

and look at s6 prices.. seriously, dont buy anything when it first come out..
a mobile phone for $1000++ is just too much…

  • +2

I don't really like Samsung's Android implementation and they took away the removable battery, removable storage and screwed up the pen design but I guess some people like it. At $200 it's worth a look, at this price ? Not so much… We'll see what a 6 gives us :)

    • +1

      I like it :)
HTC One X was the first phone I got that was like that. I've never looked back.

    • +1

Times have changed for me. MicroSD was an absolute must to me when phones were 16GB only. My S6 now has 64GB which is plenty for me, so I totally don't mind not having a slot. And looking at how all my friends choose and use their phones, they clearly don't care about removable storage or batteries.

I used to buy spare batteries for all my phones but it just got really expensive. I'm now quite happy with a slim power bank that can slip right behind my phone.

The pen design was quietly fixed too. Inserting it the wrong way won't cause damage now.

    • +5

$200 is pretty harsh. This is easily one of the most advanced phones on the planet, with arguably the best screen and best camera of any smartphone. The hardware easily makes it worth $1000, when you consider the prices of competing devices.

You can pretty much give up on removable batteries. LG is the last mainstream manufacturer to have them, and they're not coming back - I suggest you deal with it. Removable storage is rumoured to be making a comeback, if that's important to you.

    • +1

…Samsung is probably the reason why Android basically exploded, with the original Galaxy S and S2.

They used to be the only ones that offered removable batteries, removable storage, and were the only one (and pretty much are still) that offer a pen.

BTW they 'fixed' the 'issue' regarding the pen; their newer ones are designed so that people who accidentally insert it the wrong way, can easily take it out; it doesn't get stuck.

  • -6

The new Galaxy Note 6 is amazing.

    http://www.igalaxys7.com/samsung-galaxy-note-6-specs-price-r…

I might buy N6 instead of the S7 in a couple of months time.

    • Those specs are almost certainly rubbish. It's just a geek's wish-list, and has no grounding in reality.

    • +2

That website is speculative bullsh*t. This reeks of spam, and I regret giving it page views to confirm my suspicion

  • +1

to me, the 64GB S6 is quite well priced for OZ stock

    • It went cheaper last year from binglee :(

  • +1

I can see this getting ozbargained! If I didn't just get a 6S+ from work.. I still wouldn't get it.

  • +2

Got myself a Note 5. Thank you Ozbargain community, Sharing is careing

    • My order has already been dispatched. Just received an email with tracking info.

Kudos to Mobileciti for great service

    • -1

      You wouldn't download a phone …

      • -1

        What do you mean ??

      • Haters gonna hate

    • I received my phone today in Melbourne via express post. Thank you mibileciti. It's flawless. Fisrt Samsung phone since Galaxy S3, a lot of improvements. So far so good.

  • I haven't been paying attention to mobile phone releases and developments, and am looking to purchase a new one. Could anyone share some wisdom as to what my options could be? I've noticed that S5s and S6s have been the more popular Androids, but is it worth getting now or waiting for a newer one later this year? I'm in no rush to purchase one, and I don't mind for a more expensive one. Having said that, a lower-priced recommendation won't be dismissed!

    • Newer one coming out in 2 months time.

    • What are your needs?

You most likely don't need the latest and greatest phones.

You're most likely able to do with a 2 year old phone. Or even 3 or 4. Really depends on what you need it for.

      • I want a more multimedia-oriented phone. I'm tired of having to deal with sub-standard performance. I used to have an old HTC Wildfire which was barely capable of making texts without overheating. I want to be able to watch videos and read PDFs with a reasonably sized screen.

        • +1

I want to be able to watch videos and read PDFs with a reasonably sized screen.

          OK.

I have a Nexus 4. It's like a 2012 phone (?), and it meets all your needs, except for the 'reasonably sized screen', as it's considered small now (4.7 inches).

My point: It's like a 4 year old phone, and it meets your needs; you can save them $$$ if you are smart.

Yes, you can pour in the cash and get a beautiful Galaxy Note 5 (arguably the best phone at the moment, with the best camera and performance, and arguably, style), but honestly, a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would do you justice, and save you $$$. Basically when it came out, it was the beast of a phone in performance, camera, everything. Thus, the Note 3 is very popular and supported by Cyanogenmod, so you can count on it being supported for a very long time. You've also got the S-Pen, which may come handy when you annotate your PDFs etc.

          Other options:

          • Motorola Moto G (2014). Cheapo, big screen again, apparently amazing battery life, dual front facing speakers, crap screen but no one really needs a beautiful screen; will do you justice. Snappy fluid performance, though may be a tad slow at loading apps. It's slowly receiving the latest Android around the world.

          • If you'd like to risk your balls, what about a cheap-ass Chinese brand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2? Saw one for <$180. Apparently they are good. 5.5inch screen, and apparently no hickups in performance. I would get this for my aging parents. Also this phone came out last year (August!), so should be officially supported by xiaomi for the foreseeable future.

          • Since I've recommended the Galaxy Note 3, I should also add in the HTC One M8. Yes, it's the newest phone of my recommendations yet, but it's got front facing speakers, and HTC's famous for their awesome speakers (and infamous cameras). It's metallic, and feels solid. But, 5 inch screen fyi.

          • I will also add in the Sony Xperia Z2, but hesitantly. It's got a 5.2inch screen, and has front facing speakers, which is nice (but not as nice as the HTC's). I'm hesitant in recommending this, as I don't like its design; it's not optimally designed to be handled. Sharp edges and corners, no curvature; a solid rectangular 'block', makes it uncomfortable to hold. Cyanogenmod supports this phone, which is good.

          Good night.

  • Too late, I'm already an iPhone user… Good price though

    • +1

If you're happy with it. Just Keep it, iPhones are good too

  • Is LG G4 features and usability on par with S6?

    • +1

Wife using G4 from last 8 months, couldn't be happier. A very nice phone, has been updated to 6.0 and battery backup has been improved a lot. And yes Superfast.

But no experience with S6, so can't comment

      • -1

G4 much better. less bloatware. half the price. stuff shamesung

    • S6 has similar (some say better ) camera & screen, faster processor, and more "features" installed. Some like this, some don't. Not that the G4 is the cleanest Android experience. Overall there is not much between the G4 and S6. Most head-to-head comparisons give the S6 the nod. S6 is about $130 more (ATM) but you get 64GB vs 32GB. You can't go wrong with either. Note that the G4 is a fair bit bigger, which might be the deciding factor.

      • Pretty much this. Used both side by side for a week and settled on S6 mainly because the G4 was not as comfortable in my smallish hands and I do a lot of usage on a flat desk. I preferred the lack of bloat and subjectively better LCD screen on the G4 screen buts that's about it.

  • +1

I have to agree way too expensive I can't justify $900 on a phone not that it would stop me. But logically speaking it's just a device I use to call and text I barely use any apps. I don't like how you have to be signed into android to use your phone it's becoming too big brother for my liking.

  • Gold, Yuk.

  • +2

Bought mine on release for $1100. Worth it even at that price. This thing is beautiful. And I use the stylus frequently. I've had so many flagship phones, and usually the honey moon period of getting infatuated with my phone lasts a month or so but I haven't stopped admiring this phone since I got it. I'm not jealous of any other phone and don't care what new phones are coming out. This phone is almost flawless. The only flaw being software. Slow updates and some weird bugs (most have been patched though).

  • Where does the 10% off promotional code go during the transaction with eBay? I'm unable to locate …

    • At checkout

  • Is there an expected date when next Note is release?

    • Their end of year phones…

  • What is the historical low?
    Seems cheaper before?
