    Its always $450 these days….

  • Even though Dell control their whole manufacturing and distribution process they still don't offer competitive prices. I hate them…

Not entirely - apparently they are suing 3 LCD panel producers for price fixing

$650 for a netbook with an Atom Z530 processor (the CPU is almost 2 years old now), you've got to be kidding. Especially when the RRP for the new Dell Mini's with the N450 is $499

      Yep even $450 is expensive

  • Make sure that the power supply is sensible. I have a Dell netbook (not this model and work supplied) and the power supply is the same as for a Dell laptop; big, bulky and almost as heavy as the netbook. The worst thing about it.

    • Is yours the Latitude 2100?

  • You can get a 12" with that price now.

i think they're just trying to clear off all the old stock they still hold of the old mini 10

Don't expect any after-sales service from Dell. Just google "Dell Complaints" and be enlightened.

    • If you have a company who doesn't service your product under warranty like Samsung or Dell, just report to the Office of Fair Trading, and you will see how fast they'll respond.

The problem with this is that you'll find results for all companies. People are generally silent if they receive a good experience.

Perhaps there may be a higher prevalence with Dell, but to suggest absolutely not to expect any post-sale support is slightly sensationalized.

When it comes to after sales support with server hardware, Dell have been great. Much better than most experiences I've had with HP.

      • I don't know why people bag out Dell just because of their bad experiences. There are bad experiences with all companies and ironically Dell is probably the best when it comes to customer service. People should experience technical support from other companies before being judgmental because most are pretty poor compared to Dell. I had a Dell laptop for 2 years before upgrading and whenever it had problems a tech would be over the next day to fix it. Easy. I now have an Asus laptop and the video card just died. I had to send it to a service centre and it's going to take at least 2 weeks before I'll get it back. That in itself makes me want to go back to a Dell.

$200 off sounds good, but it is Still quite expensive I guess.

  • $339 gets you a new 10" Acer netbook at Clive Peeters. Saw the ad in The Australian rag but I didn't think it was worth posting.
