FYI, you don't need to be a Lasttix member to purchase the tickets at a discounted rate. Just click on the "Buy Now" button and you'll be taken to a special Ticketmaster site where you can buy discounted tickets.

    • Oh, thanks for the clarification. I did not know that!

However, for those who are interested in the same show, but not these dates, by all means sign-up. Then, when the same special rolls around in subsequent weeks, you will be informed straight away.

How much handling can I get for $8.75?

    • This is always the most contentious fee …
We already print our own tix.

      • Replace "handling" with "processing". Feel better?
Believe it or not, that wonderful ticket ordering system isn't free. It costs money to host, secure, maintain and improve it. That's where your $8.75 goes.

        • If this were the only "processing" fee … But the ticket price already includes a $1.34 payment processing fee per ticket. (The actual ticket price is $78.56).

          From their description:

Prices include GST and, where applicable, per ticket fees and a payment processing fee (PPF) of up to 1.95% of the ticket price, but exclude fees that are calculated on a per transaction basis. Per transaction fees will be added to the final total of your order.

This $8.75 is in fact their per transaction fee.
Delivery fees are additional and separate again.
All these adding up and bumping up the price :-(

Actually, this brings up an interesting question I have been meaning to find out.

I remember a few years ago, I successfully added more than one event, paid altogether, so as to pay one lot of transaction fees.

Recently, I don't seem to be able to add more than one event into the "cart", and pay all at once. So each event incurs a separate transaction fee.

If anyone knows and can advise how to do that, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Or alternatively (if you have the ability to get to halftix Melbourne at the Townhall, you can get cheap tix for same day shows of Fiddler(cash only). Halftix also have tix for North by Northwest. I've seen both shows and recommend them both - particularly NbNW for the way it does the special effects - brilliant. http://www.halftixmelbourne.com/listings.php

    • Thanks for info. Do you get to choose your seats with Halftix? Also, does the handling fee applies?

This was an excellent show. Saw it last weekend and was very impressed. Definitely recommend seeing this one.

    • I totally agree! I am very impressed even by the younger casts - the daughters and their boyfriends, the entire ensemble, the dancers - who are not mentioned in the headline description.

I laugh (kind of) every time I see them selling off remaining seats to theatres in Australia. £10 - £15 was all we ever paid in London. Whereas in Aus, we'd rather leave the place half empty!

    • This is probably the pricing strategy here in Aus.

The theatre shows here typically run for 6-13 weeks in a city. Those who are super keen and do not want to miss out would have paid a high price to purchase long in advance, at presale opportunities etc.

They do not want to drop the price too much at the end, as it may discourage people from buying in advance.

Yes, I wish it were like London. Theatre is so much more affordable. Better still, Chichester, before a show is transferred to West End. So affordable!
