  • Why is RRP $269 and theirs is $279. Its unfortunate, futu are rewarded for selling above RRP.

  • -5

    futu is not selling above RRP, its way below it. did you forgot about storage space when checking

    • +2

      Their normal current prices are actually above RRP. Is an example of Futu jacking up their normal prices before the sale.

      32GB RRP = $269 http://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-tv/apple-tv/apple-tv-32gb
      64GB RRP = $349 http://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-tv/apple-tv/apple-tv-64gb

        you need to factor in the discount voucher for ebay. We are referring only to this deal

        • +3

          We're not talking about the voucher. We're talking about the fact that they intentionally jack up the price before the sale. It would be eBay paying for this voucher discount difference. Futu would still be getting paid the full price.

          Futu would still be pocketing the $279 and $359 prices. As i said eBay makes up the difference in price and Futu gets paid in full at their jacked up prices. Essentially eBay is paying for the vouchers.

        • @hollykryten: This is the cheapest deal for Apple tv 4th gen. Doesn't matter who pockets how much.

          @ozdesi:

          20% off the RRP would be $215.20 (for the 32GB model). Sure, $223 is still a good price, but it is misleading to advertise 20% off, and then raise the price prior to the sale. This has been a common complaint when it comes to these eBay sales.

          @hollykryten:

          I don't think it's safe to assume that eBay foots the bill (the 20%) for these types of sales. I would think that there has got to be some sort of arrangement between the selected businesses and eBay.

        • -3

          @Jad: This deal is from eBay and they never said 20% of RRP, it's only 20% off the listing price. Take it or leave it hoping for a better bargain.

        • @ozdesi:

          Yes it's an eBay voucher coupon. eBay foots the bill for these discount vouchers. The retailers will still be receiving the full amount that they've got listed on their eBay sale pages. So the retailers jack up their prices just before the vouchers kick in means they get more profit they are just cashing in big time.

        • @hollykryten: this is another great example of simply wishful thinking without any analysis.Should your logics work, every retailer on ebay would rush to participate as it is ebay pays the difference. On the contrary, jacking up price implies the 20% of will cut too much under the bottom line hence it is not viable, price had to be jacked up to make up the loss.

    Yeah, they added an extra $10, but it doesn't change the fact it's still the cheapest it's ever been after discount. Glad I held off buying one while in Dubai last week for roughly ~$230 :)

  • Does Netflix work well in Australia with Apple TV?

    • Yes, and sometimes Siri Universal Search is much better if you already know what you wanted - including Netflix. I do believe it would only search one geo region at a time if you're into that.

      • Wonder if I would be better off using a HTPC with something like SmartFlix. The UI wouldn't be as good that's for sure, but then SmartFlix does expand the library a whole heap.

        • I'm prepared to skip the ATV4 as I have a combination of ATV3 and various streaming options including unlocking geographical restrictions, built-in streaming apps (Presto) on one of my smart TVs, and others via my iPad with AirPlay.

          But some of the features, such as Siri Universal Search is really, really useful. Half the time (maybe more) I find it really hard to navigate Netflix, and this is where Siri really shines as she also allows you to progressively narrow down your search criteria.

          Mind you, I would find it very hard not to buy if the price dropped closer to $200. If it's $199 I'd snap it up right away. If it's $209 I'd have to think harder, at $219 I'd be really torn. And for $20 or $30, this is completely and utterly irrational! LOL

  • Very impressed with the new Apple TV interface/remote..

  • Thanks OP, been waiting to not have to pay full RRP on this thing for a while now.

    It's so poorly priced. And for what? Games? Considering my Xbox One was $366.50 no thanks.

    Since I gave my old ATV to my Dad I have missed not having Airplay though (so damned handy).

  • I wonder if OW can price match?

    • Just tried. Said they won't price match anything on eBay due to them not being able to verify if it is a grey market import or not.

  • Anyone had theirs dispatched/delivered yet?

    • Just got a dispatch notice
