Received an email today from Namecheap.com:

Namecheap are a great alternative to Godaddy. If you have domains with 1and1.com, here's yet another reason to leave!!!

  GoDaddy wanted $AU35 to renew a domain, well I went byedaddy and transferred to Name Cheap. Name Cheap is in the US but you still can contact them 24hrs a day if you have problems.

    With every domain transfer, you receive a free one-year WhoisGuard subscription ($2.88 value). WhoisGuard cannot be used with these domains: .asia, .bz, .ca, .cn, .co.uk, .de, .eu, .in, .me.uk, .nu, .org.uk, .us, .es, .com.es, .nom.es, .org.es, .com.au, .net.au .org.au, .uk, .li, .ch, .sg, .com.sg, .fr, .xn—3ds443g, .xn—6frz82g or .nyc.

    Too bad the ID protection is free for 1 year only
