Good point but they probably have the skills to actually make you look good.
Some of us have learnt those skills too.
OB's would be too tight to pay for the pro's tools of trade.
Speak for yourself. I have a couple of very nice cameras and I've been a photography nutter for about a decade and a half. If there's one thing i hate it's paying pros who'll only give you photos under their terms when I can take a decent photo myself and use it however I want. Sometimes there's no choice (e.g. school photos, when you're part of the event). But mostly I avoid paying for photos.
Give a man a bargain for a fish, and he eats for a day, show him a camera and photo course bargain and he'll take more photos that a Japanese tourist on a once in a lifetime holiday.
@syousef: Good for you mate. So what you are saying is that this deal is not even relevant for you then.
I'm saying paid photography is a VERY tough gig these days. There's a proliferation of cameras and material on how to use it. Charging a sitting fee of $300 is shooting yourself in the foot. Discounted to $100 is kinda meh. I really question if this belongs on Ozbargain. Events photography still has it's place but is cutthroat.
@syousef: I'd just like to add to this by saying this is generally the 'studio time only' fee. They will charge you if you want the actual photos.
I had this happen with my family. $500 voucher, we're thinking 'yep, covered'. We got there, shot, had a great time. Then we get to the packages and find out $320 was the automatic studio time and if we wanted just 4 small prints, it cost $250.
50 Digital photos (Jpeg, not even Raw) by themselves cost $4,000.
I'm not trashing the deal, just call before you go and set the record straight. Also, it was not this studio we visited.

@Zestar: Good to now, truly. I would take you up on your offer if I was in NSW. Good on you for being straight with everyone.

It's not just the sitting fee they're offering, but editing of your images as well.
Having said that, there's not really a lot on their page to give a good indication of their work.
Well at least there's that.
@Geewhizz: All my work is on Facebook. There is a lot on there if you go into photos you can see all my work.
@ MaMan They probably do have the skills to make you look good, but they probably didn't use to. Which means they probably learnt. Which means you can probably learn as well. Just saying it's doable…probably.
Happy mothers day everyone

Or use that camera you bought through ozbargain in combination with the myriad of photography courses you added through Ozbargain to take your own pictures and print them at a discounted rate from a place you'll find on Ozbargain.
