is this like a flashy version of google cardboard?

Or is this more like samsung gear VR?

    • +2

Pretty much. Still, it's worth buying a headset with a strap for a couple dollars more than a cardboard one, if just for the 'hands free viewing', if you know what I mean.

      • Banggood comes through again!

      • +1

        come on stop exaggerating… "handS"…. ;)

  • Price shows as AU $42.19 for me.

    • +2

Did you use code at checkout?

      • ah, missed that. should open my eyes! thanks

  • This is basically a comfier version of Google Cardboard. You put your phone in it and you're able to view 360 degree videos. But it isn't anywhere close to actually simulating 'virtual reality' — it's just 360 degree viewing.

To be honest, I'm seeing a lack of development interest in Google Cardboard, and if you want to play around with it I suggest getting the cardboard version first for a couple of bucks elsewhere before you spend anywhere close to $30 for a fancier viewer.

Yes there are lots of 360 degree Youtube videos on the internet, perhaps that's one reason one might want a better cardboard but there are a lot of decent ones on the market for around half the price.. e.g Ritech II is around $10.25 USD on Aliexpress.

    • +1

I definitely wouldn't say it "isn't anywhere close", there's a lot more than just 360 video

  • Hi rep, any larger discount on this item?

    http://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-BW-LT1-Eye-Care-Protection…

    • Hi,the current price is the sale price, the normal will be $44.77

  • +3

Rep, what's the difference between yours and these (Shinecon VR):
    - http://www.banggood.com/Universal-3D-VR-Video-Glasses-Virtua… (AU$34.13 with no coupon)
    - http://www.gearbest.com/home-gadgets/pp_246872.html (AU$23.94)

It looks and indeed exactly the same product, with the difference only in branding…

    • +2

Nothing its just the exact same product rebranded using the same advertising stuff too.

      • Thinking about the one through gearbest (even though I have bought a couple of watches from them with questionable quality as both bands snapped). I noticed one reviewer said that you need a remote control to operate it. I've never used google cardboard before and will be using it with a Sony android phone. Do I need a remote?

        • +1

Yeah the problem with these ones is they dont include the magnet switch from cardboard v1 or the little button that touches your screen from cardboard v2.

You would need to open the headset every time you wanted to click the screen or as you said buy a separate remote just for clicking.

    • lol, sometimes u can not just see the appearance

      • What kind of answer is that?
If this product is different, can you specify the difference instead of make unhelpful comment like this?

  • I think Kmart still sell one for $15. No idea of quality.

  • only $900 less than the Oculus.

    • Oculus is 1100 shipped. So this is 1065 less than oculus

      • The Rift also includes the display hardware and 3D-effect headphones, so you might as well add a QHD capable phone to this deal's A$34.53 price.

      • +3

You need a powerful pc to enjoy oculus so add another $1000 to that.

        • It's similar case anyway. Just like buying this lens and plastic case for a $1000 smarphone you already owned or buying a more premium VR headset for a $1000(more like $1500-$2000 to play VR) PC you already owned.

        • I use a mac, so still need a decent enough pc to run oculus, ergo $1000 more. :)

  • What size are the lenses in this?

  • Just from my experience on shinecon. Due to the spring loaded design and short stoppers, it can not fit any curved phone from the back such as asus zenfone 2. Lg g4 would just fit without the cover. Otherwise I find that it is very well built.

  • This looks like an exact copy of 360fly mobile viewer which cost $70. I returned it because it creeps when you look down using an iphone 6 plus even an iphone 5s. On the plus side, it's very comfortable though.

  • Wait what, says its compatible with "iPad devices" then says its for screens 3.5->6 inches, is the iPad within this size?

  • Does it work with watching normal Netflix 2D movies on your phone? or does it have to specific content only? I don't care if it's not 3D etc just want to watch 2D, like I was watching it on a big screen in my bed at night.

    • not through Netflix, no. But you can get apps that simulate a cinema and play local videos on your phone

    • I did not try to watch movies with the 2D content, but It's quite awesome for watching 3D movies with this device, just the same experience like 3D Max,u need to download app supporting this.I will buy several units as New Year gift for my friend and family D:

This is truly a super good product,if any problems with this product, and If u do not like it after u receive it,I can ask them offer 100% refund, just PM me.

      PS,my friend say he tried the 2D movies,feels good,just enlarge your phone screen,not 3D。

      • There is also a loss of resolution as well, because the image is duplicated and split in half. So don't expect very sharp videos unless your phone has better than 1080p resolution.

  • kmart sells the viewmaster vr for $49…
