And yes, these things make amazing coffee. A lot better than most sub $150 machines.
Just make sure you buy your grinded coffee as fresh as you can (or in smaller packets if you get it at coles).
And always use the lowest possible heat setting to get a nice strong coffee.

Do these make better coffee than using a capsule coffee machine?
Yes, they do. They sit in between an espresso machine and a pod machine. Produces a thicker, richer brew. Even a little crema if tamped right and correct heat applied.
Capsules have a richer aroma and crema if you like stronger taste. Moka pot is good if you like a long black which is too mild for me
Whether it's mild or not depends on your coffee beans and grind?
Depends on ur bar pressure. Moka pots have 1-2 bar pressure. Capsule machines should have 6-9 bar pressure. Plenty of crema in a capsule but depends what u like
yeah. If you have good beans, the right grind and learn how to use it you can get some pretty good coffee.
The thing I like about moka pots is that you have that variability aswell as the ability to experiment which capsule don't give.
These are also great for camping if you're going to an unpowered site and don't like instant coffee/rough tea

These are great!! I got the 18 cup Moka and loving it. I get my beans grinded from Merlo coffee, 200g at a time.
Strong coffee too, I had to get milder coffee beans. I got a Nespresso machine too which the wife uses but I like my stove top coffee.
How do these compare to the cheaper Avanti ones?
