Eneloop Pro AA/AAA 4 Packs $16.99 (Normally $27.95) - C&C or + $9.95 Delivery @ Dick Smith

840

Thankfully, vid_ghost made a mention that the eneloop range was on special at DSE. The Eneloop PRO range are quite popular on OzB and the AA Eneloop Pro in particular have not been this close to this price for some time so it is worthy of a post of its own.
I just grabbed a couple of packs of the AA.

The AAA were on sale last week at $13+ dollars last week, so stocks around DSE may be hard to find.

Deal ends today.

  • Time to combine posts.

  • Purchased two packs of the 4 x AAA PROS during the last deal last week, click and collect from DSE Southland.

Still waiting for them to arrive in-store

Apparently their stock system is showing them as having stock, but there are none available.

Staff were great though and have committed to find me some to fulfill my order.

    G

    • How long have you been waiting?

    • They were pretty prompt (like a day or two for my pickup SMS) although I could the closes I could get a click and collect from moonee ponds - perhaps the more distant stores had more stock.

    • FWIW I got mine from Rouse Hill NSW in one day…

    • Pretty sure mine got credited back from last weeks order - Still says Processing order.

    • dang I didn't know they allowed back orders. I took last one from Mt Ommanney and took a week of stuffing about to get in to collect.

Swore I'd never buy online from dse again…. yet here I am :)

  • indeed - is there anywhere to find an "all inclusive" summary that compares all the different types of eneloops?

  • It's telling me it's already out of stock :(

  • Fantastic pricing! I have camera flashes that drain AA batteries really quickly. thanks for the find, OP!

  • Starting off the new year with a bang.. time to chuck out the old and in with the new.. thanks OP.. ordered 2

    • Chucking out eneloops? Blasphemy!

      • The old ones are 3 years old and still hold a good charge… when i bought them they were 30$ for a pack of 4… they have served me well.. They will now be recommissioned to be used in my TV remotes :D

  • For the uninformed, apart from higher capacity, any other advantages for the pro's over the regular ones?

    • +2

From experience I used them for my camera flash (Canon 600Ex) They seems to have faster flash recycle times. (Means I can use the flash quicker between shots)

    • None. The higher capacity is the only advantage.

  • Out of stock!

  • Is there some kind of referral tracking going on with this deal?

After checkout and payment (successful) I ended up here -
    https://tracking.dpgmedia.com.au/

    • Try using Ghostery extension in Firefox or Chrome. Works brilliantly for those trackers.

  • Damn I was after some AAA but the only available ones are in West Lakes in SA

    Are these made in Japan?
    cheers

    • +1

      Yes.

But they've been cheaper and probably will be again in the near future.

I bought mine (4pk) for around $12.20 several months back.

  • AAA's are $18.88 AUD delivered from Ebay so not that great a deal unless you have a store with stock very close to your house.

  • Perfect timing. Picked up 3. Thanks OP.

  • Is that enough eneloop Dick deals for anyone else?

Any reason people prefer these to the LSD batteries from Hobbyking? It just seems like something that the average Ozbargainer would be well and truly aware of by now but don't see a lot of mention of it. I have used the Turnigy batteries from them before and they seem quite decent and are really cheap, especially if u order a couple of packs to offset the shipping ( which was about $10)
I recently ordered 10 AA, 5 packs of 4 AAA and 4 1.6v NiZN AA batteries (never seen these before, be interesting to try them in devices that will handle them ), the whole lot shipped is roughly US$52 including shipping. Shipping /processing isn't especially quick but it's supposedly from an AU warehouse so it's not unreasonable and the difference in price more than makes up for it as far as i am concerned.

    • I use Turnigy batteries but would buy Eneloops if they're around $2 per battery.

      • Indeed this deal is $4 per battery which is steep. Pro or not, these have been around $3 each in past sales.

    • Brand name and "ease" of purchase.
Personally I think Turnigys are better value for your money (standard AA from turnigy is 2400mAh, standard AA eneloops are 2000mAh)
Just that for Turnigys, to make it worthwhile you need to buy around the $50-$60 mark for the postage costs to average out.

      • True, you do need to buy a couple to make it worthwhile as you can't pick them up but at about $1.50 per battery you don't need to order too many to recoup the shipping costs and make it worthwhile. It's be a different story if they were crap Batteries, but as far as I can tell they aren't.

  • No store near me in Melbs for AAAs

    Are these any good?

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/eneloop-aaa-chocolat-8pk-dsau-s4…

  • Can I use my ancient Arlec battery charger for these, or do I need to get an eneloop specific charger?

    • I don't have a wealth of knowledge on this, but whilst it'll work, it might 'overcharge' them, thus ruining their lifespan.

I don't even know if the Eneloop chargers stop charging once full…

      • You can use you old Arlec charger. You will have to take them off charge after about 12-14 hours. The Eneloop slow charger is on sale at the moment too - today only for around $17 and comes with four basic Eneloop AA's, that is quite a good deal. It will charge the PRO Eneloops.

      • The only smarts my eneloop charger appears to have is that it will stop charging after ~16hrs.

  • Just had my order cancelled.

  • bought 1 this morning and already picked it up! thanks op.

  • ordered 5 of the double AA's and its ready for pick up in Canberra! -
(I ordered 2 packs off ebay recently for $25 each! - am i doing something wrong?, these where the cheapest AA I could find in the exact same models on ebay during that time)

  • Cheers OP, bought 8x AA & 4x AAA and used a 'Mates Rates' code that exp. 7/7/15, $40 all up.

    • sharing is caring.. :)

  • Does anyone know if I can use these with my Nitecore D2 charger?

    http://charger.nitecore.com/product/digicharger-d2

  • Do any places sell/have specials on C Eneloops?

    • Usually only see the C adapter for your normal AA eneloops.
      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/eneloop-family-battery…

      • Thanks for the heads up. Looks to be the best bet… I might buy that package. and try sell the charger on Gumtree for $10 (and buy a nitecore for around $30) the chargers have bad reviews from people on here. Any idea on where to get more C battery shells/adapters? Would these things work? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1x-Case-Adapter-Converter-Holder-… I have a Boombox and it takes 8 C batteries so want to purchase extra adapters.

        • Sorry, only just saw this. I have never needed to use one but would think that any adapter would work. They are all a standard size.

  • Bought one this morning and picked up within a couple of hours. Got another at the store for the same price as it was showing no more stock online.

    Worth going in

  • Bought a couple. Thanks OP.

  • I went past these and purchased 2 of the big 4xAAA 4xAA packs for $24.20 each. Not the extreme versions but still pretty cheap for eneloops.

  • I remember the deal before was 4 AA or AAA for $10 or 8 AA for $20?

Not sure about pro version but also checked white one (non-pro version) online and it seems expensive then before? $14 for 4 AA now.

I would be very careful of doing C&C with Dick Smith considering their shares have recently gone into a trading halt.

You may be left in the unenviable position of purchasing the item and then the company goes into administration and they have no obligation to give you the items you purchased. Well except you may have a remedy of getting a charge back on your card but still.

Well except you may have a remedy of getting a charge back on your card but still.

If you pay by PayPal I highly doubt you'd have any trouble getting your money back if you can't get the product.

    • +1

If you pay by paypal i would assume you'd be protected by paypal?

Bought a couple of the AA ones stright from the store. Apparently they can allow you to buy at the store up to two items of this online deal. At the $16.99 price.

Got me email for the C&C hope I will get my batteries considering they might go belly up soon. Shares halted trading at 9.30am today

  • And Dick Smith shares suspended.

I really hope things work out for DSE & buyers

  • Poor Dick Smith still overstocked so many Eneloops. 'Dick Smith' and 'Eneloops' has been inseparable for over a year now…. Really Stupid inventory management. They really think they can earn a fortune by non-stop selling eneloops every day ?

  • Woolworths is smart enough to offload most soon to be worthless Physical Dick Smith Gift Cards to Ozbargainers.

Coles ask DS to pay by credit vouchers so they can offload that to Ozbargainers as well.

  • Picked up my 4x AA in Perth , they had heaps on the shelf.

Was annoying because the website said the had no AAA so I got them from eBay for a couple of dollars more…then when we went in there was some on the shelf.

    • Hi, did you place an order "click & collect" or just visit the store and ask for that price?

      • C&C…can be tricky to get online price walking into the store…which is stupid but yeah thats DS.

  • Unable to place order, C&C is broken, store locator did not work and therefore cannot checkout. :(

Tried IE, Chrome and firefox, store locator just won't return any store no matter what postcode is used.

  • I cant handle the Dick anymore. Sick of participating in their circus, constantly changing prices and not even knowing whether something is or isn't in stock. Id rather pay a little extra and support a business that knows what they are doing.

It's sad to see the iconic store go out of business, but good riddance i say!

According to The Australian the administrators have now been called in so unless you can walk in, pay your money and walk out with the product, DON'T DO IT!

  • will be my first eneloop pro

  • +1

If you made any purchases via cash and collect. Get in and pick them up early tomorrow. If and when the administrators call it. You may not be able to pick up any items you have purchased once they close the stores.

    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/receivers-called-in…

    • Will be there at 9am waiting for the doors to open.

      • +2

Managed to pick up mine. Store was business as usual. Empty.

    • Damn it, looks like I just threw away $32. Should I bother going to Airport West store?

      • Yes, If you have been notified the batteries are ready for pickup, then yes the stores are still trading. Go sooner than later… shit could turn bad anytime.

        • Had a call earlier today that they don't have in stock and they'll be issuing me a refund. I was surprised. Figured I'd lost my money.

        • @rorymeister: Maybe the defining factor is that the website said there was stock when there wasn't. Opposed to buying when DS does not have stock and needing to order it in from the supplier.

  • Aw man, got the dreaded refund

    • At least your money wasn't held by the administrators :)

      • Money hasn't come in yet, only received an email notification.

I don't get it because I went in store and they had three packs

Do I need a notification to come in and get it or can I just go and pick it up off the shelf and tell the counter?

  • Just scored two packs - they were still scanning at this discounted rate.

  • Collected my batteries today… Asked the guy behind the counter what he has heard.. Said he has been looking for a new job for a while and knew this would happen sooner or later…

  • FYI: Mentone DS has these batteries in stock on the shelf
