I have no idea of the end date, if someone finds it then put it :)
Anyways, this is a good competitor of pricey Adobe Lightroom so hobbyist photographer can buy software and process the photos.

Look I loathe Adobe's business practices and bloat but if you think lightroom is clunky you obviously don't know how to use it. You can cut editing time in a quarter or even less compared to other products if you know what you're doing.
It's cheaper to buy a plane ticket to the USA and buy adobe products there than it is to buy them in Australia!
Not any more. $10 a month or around $180 standalone
There is no more standalone version available. Now only the monthly payment.
Clunky is relative term.
I'm comparing it to aperture with a smooth user interface, I dislike the organisation of tabs and features in Lightroom and I feel it runs slow on fast hardware compared to other software.
It entirely depends on your workflow as well, DXO can perform better for people who just need to perform corrections.
Personally I miss aperture, it gave light room. A real run for its money with adobes user interface it really feels like they just don't try.
I use capture one these days, it has better controls and workflow/project organisation.
To each their own, but Lightroom isn't popular because it's a perfect piece of software, it's got a virtual monopoly and I encourage something to challenge it.
Aftershot Pro would be a better comparison to Lightroom than just the standard Aftershot. Aftershot Pro is AUD$66 currently.

Not bad, I agree light room is two pricey (and clunky).
Not to steal anyone's thunder but in case people aren't aware sont users can get capture one for free ( express version - full featured single library), a HUGE library. Coming from aperture it's the next best thing.
