    • Lol, they will probably increase the discount to 20% now.

      • Lol that would piss me off so much !

  • any deal on s6 edge plus?

  • Very bad of ebay to remove the discount from their website and cause panic, hopefully they keep it around so that people can still use it. It sure made me make a decision on my purchase though lol !

  • Still working at 5pm Melbourne time. Bought a kindle paperwhite and Ted Baker laptop case, love it!

  • Just purchased code seems to be working..

  • at cash reward website i saw this:

    • Payment using any type of voucher or eBay credit may result in your purchase being ineligible to earn rewards.

so will this 15% event works with cash reward?

    • +2

Cashrewards listed the voucher on their site so it's fine

  • +1

everyone panicked and pulled the trigger on impulse buys… including me. Lol… Ebay is going to come back with "whoops, it was a typo".. suckaaaa

though i don't see the coupon on Ebay's frontpage anymore.

    • no way, ebay is way too rich to cancel our orders. if dicksmith, different story

  • +1

Panicked and bought one thing i was probably going to buy anyway
Plus one I wasn't prob going to buy

The page now says offer expired

  • +3

still works fellas, just bought s6 edge plus, fuke my life if they come up with 20% tonight..

    • how much nett cost you?

      • around $780 after 15%, using cashreward but no expecting get 4% from them as they never track high value item from my personal experience.

        • Hmm a fried bought surface pro and get $70 back from cash reward so sometimes it does work..

  • still worked!! pumped

  • This might be a stupid question, but if i bought a monitor e.g. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-24-inch-LED-LCD-Gaming-Mo… could i connect my wii u directly to that monitor?

    • Well you can for video via HDMI, but I'm not sure what you'd do for sound. Might be better off with something with built in speakers assuming you don't have a receiver or something in between.

    • Yes you could (assuming your wii has a hdmi port), but you will need some speakers and depending on the speakers you have the setup can become a little complex…

    • Thanks for your input guys. I completely forgot about the whole sound issue. I need sound for it to be fun! The wii u does have a HDMI cable, so that wouldn't be an issue

  • Ordered at 5:20 pm, NSW time and went through without issue.

  • Damn….I will wait for the next eBay sale I guess. Only a few weeks away.

With all these eBay sales, I am not saving alot of money….I am actually spending much more than I usually would

    • +1

That's the point of the sale.

  • +2

Have had 2 lots of payments refunded by paypal. Some others went through, but they're not cataloged in payment history. Been on the phone back and forth with ebay and paypal, neither of them take responsibility and are 'investigating'. They said buy again and claim the code later - bad form. I guess after my 10 years using the platform and 1000+ feedback I will be buying a lot less here, as I have been. The sale brought me back and it's just about done it.

    • Same like my experience before.

EBay says call paypal, paypal says speak to ebay. Useless bunch!

  • Went to place my order at 5.30 p.m., saw a banner at the top of the ebay page saying the offer had expired. Saw some comments here saying they had successfully made transactions just minutes before. I went through with the purchase anyway (with a different browser where the banner had disappeared) and applied the code, sure enough the discount was applied. Now I just have to find the money to pay for all these purchases.

    • No need to worry you have 55 days. That is, if you smart enough to link paypal with credit card…

  • -5

In case you haven't noticed the revision, the deal expires at midnight. So keep shopping people :)

    • Seems to have stopped working 6pm Sydney time.

    • Pfft to negs, my comment was valid at the time of posting sheeesh. Was just trying to help, is all.

  • -1

Guys, I get this message - what am I doing wrong?

The redemption code can't be used for your purchase
There is no balance left on this redemption code

  • Stopped working now, it now says "X-2015: You've used the entire balance on your gift card, gift certificate or eBay Bucks certificate." on Paypal

  • :( , it said : "There is no balance left on this redemption code" when i tried to use

  • The redemption code can't be used for your purchase
There is no balance left on this redemption code

    • Yep, that's what just popped up for me. Rather lame by eBay: I wonder what happened behind the scenes that prompted this sudden change?

/crosses fingers for renewal of deal in new year.

  • Code not working for me :(

  • +8

This deal imo has really messed up eBays reputation. I really thought a company the size of Ebay would have more class. We got dates saying it was going to end 31.. Then they decide to modify the deal and end it on the 30th. Mod gets word that it will end 30th/midnight, only for the code to stop working all together now. Something like this would never happen under Jeff Bezos watch at Amazon.

    • +2

Pray that I don't alter it further.

      • This deal's getting worse all the time, Darth EBayer.

    • +1

Nah, Ebay has shit all reputation anyway, this just reinforced they are blood sucking scums.

  • ebay - you've done it again.
Just another bait and switch campaign. They have form.

  • Expired for me 6pm

  • Damn. Expired for me too just when I found a good bargain.

  • ffs.. i was going to buy an iphone..

  • Timely that I just received the revised invoice from Ebay seller 2 minutes ago confirming freight to complete the sale. Only took 2 days. Win some lose some…….

  • NOOOOOOOO just came from work too late :(

  • Won auction 1.30hr ago, and missed the 6pm limit by 5 mins. Darn!

    • I was in middle of purchasing something… I think I've bought… trying to remember sequence. Did I click Buy Now, then enter coupon? NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • Expired.

What a poorly organized promotion. This is now the second time eBay has pulled a coupon earlier and cut a promotion short without warning.

      • +3

I bought within the first hour.

That doesnt change the fact that its still unfair to cut it earlier with no notice than when its advertised to go on for, especially for a huge company like eBay.

      • +1

For the size of eBay….they should stick to their T&C and not alter it. There are heaps of people working and have been loading their carts to complete the purchase before it expire. Only to find eBay pulled the rope.

Not everyone is just buying one item … I believe heaps of people are loading carts to get to $150 mark to make the saving

      • +2

        Happy new year

  • +1

ebay has done a delivery hero.

  • +3

Ebay has done a Dick smith!

    • +1

Or a Hardly Normal….oops it was a pricing error.

My email from ebay says 31 Jan, no revised email, so I reckon there's a case misleading advertising.

      • +2

From the revised terms and conditions:

        • eBay reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions of the offer at its reasonable discretion by publishing revised terms on ebay.com.au.

          • The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of New South Wales.

          • These terms and conditions are revised as at 30 December 2015 and effective immediately.

        It hardly seems reasonable.

        • Not reasonable in my castle.

        • Yeah from their email advert "Max discount $300 per transaction; 2 transactions per person allowed. Ends 31 Dec. Other T&Cs apply."

So there is no indications from their ad that it could end earlier. A reasonable person would expect that the end date was 31 Dec & that that wasn't wasn't part of any other terms & conditions.

For those who bid on auctions or committed to buy before realise the promotion had actually ended earlier then advertised, I would do the following

          1) complain to ebay via email/online where you can keep a record of the complaint & outcome.
          2) if they refuse to honour it (I suspect they will actually), lodge a complaint with your state/territory consumer affairs.
          3) If they palm you off, lodge a complaint with the ACCC.

IMHO they've failed the 'what would a reasonable person expect'

        • @supabrudda:

I've submitted a complaint to the ACCC that this was deceptive advertising.

        • @Xenocaust: yes I'll be doing the same. I still have my email.

  • +1

Thanks, ebay. I decided not to bid on an item because of the late change.

  • +1

They should NOT have used for code "celebrate2015",…..as it's still another 30 hours till end of 2015.

Bad eBay. But again….I wonder why the sudden change in the expiry ?
    Weird.

  • +1

Just bought a LG G4 at 5:30 using the code, hit "Pay" at Paypal with the code applied to get $475.10 - just under the wire.

Then I got the invoice from Paypal - they charged me the full price of $559! - even though I only hit Pay for $475.10

There's no record anywhere of me having used a code - Paypal say that it never happened. I'm currently on hold with Ebay, hoping they can fix it.

I think the moral of this story is be wary of possibly expired codes, and take screenshots :-(

    • The Paypal payment to the seller(s) is for the full amount. That payment consists of 85% from you and 15% from eBay. Log into Paypal and look at the details of the transaction carefully. Or look at the credit card or account that your Paypal was getting funds from and you should see only 85% was taken.

      • Nope, the Paypal transaction is for the full amount. My VISA statement also shows the full amount.

I think eBay didn't pass on the 15%, so Paypal slugged me for the full amount.

eBay have agreed to credit me the 15%, but it may take "10-15 business days".

    • +1

For me, paypal shows a full deduction but bank statement shows I only paid 85%. As long as bank statement reflects the discount worked im happy

      • Yeah my paypal app says full price, but amex says only 85% charged.

  • +1

I noted that Dell Australia has gone holidays until 6 January 2016. If they knew Ebay is going to pull this "Celebrate2015" thingy beforehand probably they would have done a "Dick" and we all screwed. But because they're on holidays, their best deal (Inspiron Series 5 $1000+) remained "unDicked"

So I am not surprised they pull out this code as fast as it arrives… to give the "Dickers" as little chance as possible to do a "Dick".

  • +1

Mod … where did the information come from that the end was revised to midnight? I was busily building a cart and though I had more time.

Ebay has been running with a banner for hours stating that the deal expired even though it was still working. Then word comes that it was revised to midnight, then it expires at 6pm.

    Stupid, stupid eBay!

  • phew! was hoping to get in before the expiry but didn't.. saved about $800! :D

oh well, i'm sure 15-20% off will pop up again ><

  • Has anyone contacted Ebay? to find out whats up with the code?

  • I swear I saw that it ended on the 31st. Why was this changed? :( :( :(

    • +1

      Ozbargainers broke Ebay

  • +1

Oh well, its off to bricks and mortar tomorrow.

  • +2

What about people have submitted bids on items finishing tonight or tomorrow thinking they'll get 15% off? They can't retrieve their bids they are at the mercy of sellers now. It's not fair at all.

    • They can revoke their bids or not pay. Seems the second option is way too common on eBay which is why I hardly use it anymore coupled with the high seller fees.

      • If they don't pay then it's not fair for the seller. Ebay totally f'ed up this promotion.

  • There goes my cheap KD65X8500C again!

  • +2

Was this deal being smashed? I bought something at 5:30pm and the voucher worked. Just doing another largish shop $1k and it won't let me. The ad said 31st of December now saying Terms and Conditions Revised on 30 December. Pretty unfair!

  • +8

I've really had it with ebay, they rip you off by taking 12.5% of your sales, and then start charging the same on postage, so if you are an honest seller charging standard postage you actual lose money from a sale.

I am not going to have anything to do with ebay anymore. Furthermore I am going to setup a completely unrelated paypal and ebay account and sell stuff to myself whenever ebay has a 15-20% off sale, just to make sure ebay loses money.

  • talked to customer service. they said they will forward it to a team and they will process it.

    • +5

      which means /dev/null 2>&1

    • Process what?

      • bought an item. provided them details and they will give me discount into paypal acc

  • +4

Chatted to the online chat team on ebay.

Put an order of $700 through and they will refund 15% in to my paypal account.

Will take approx 15-20 days to process.

They were very good about it. No issues whatsoever. The chat stream emailed to me as proof.

    Go get em OZ Bargainers!!!

    • Im trying the same thing now, i have about $400 worth of varying items ive added in and then no workies =/

      • You need to chat to them and they will authorise a refund. In the mean time you will need to pay the full price for the items.

        • +1

i'm chatting to them right not… s/he didnt offer 15% discount
this is the ans i got… "I would request you to please wait for a few more days as these offers are offered periodically , so you can buy it later when again this offer is launched"

got few items loaded in cart to pay on 31st now they do this… Shame on you ebay!

    • What? So you didn't see the code working but still go ahead and purchased? Genuine question, I'm curious.

      • What happened with me was, I logged into cashrewards, clicked on the copy coupon to get 15% off ebay, seached for what I wanted to buy, clicked buy now, entered coupon and recieved "too late sucker message". Commitment to buy was whilst promised 15% off, but ebay reneged on offer after I'd accepted thier offer.
Now I have a seller waiting for me to pay full amount :(

    • +4

      ^ eBay shill detected

    • He's called crudman for a reason….

    • "Example: $10 off and I want to spend 1k max, coupon will be limited to 100 uses"

They could have specified a cap for the promotion though and monitored that no differently to how one monitors the number of coupons handed out. Just specify a value of a few hundred thousand or millions and tally up the total discount. At least that'd set an expectation that the promotion may end prior to the end date.

Not to say I'm too fussed, I got what I needed yesterday rather than risk items selling out which I'm sure would have impacted a lot of people who sat on it had the promotion not ended earlier, but they none the less could have organised it in a way that made the possibility of an early termination better communicated. It's within their rights, but most competitions have similar terms that are never acted upon.

  • due to the popularity of the 15% site wide promotion there were concerns around the stock levels leading to customer experience. As eBay always strives to offer the best customer experience for its buyers, a decision has been made to end the sale early at 1pm on the 30th December.

    • But it didn't end then, it ended about 5 hours later. That's incompetent. I'm still wondering where the OzB mods heard that it would be revised to midnight tonight.

    • +3

LOL since when does ebay hold stocks?
