  • smartphone.online just jacked their price up $40 for a galaxy s6. They had $599 for the 64gb version

    • Galaxy S6 64GB for $599? Are you sure you aren't mistaking that price for S5?

      • I am sure

Look at the revision history. The price changed at 3:50 today

        • +3

If I were you I would collect as much information as I can regarding that device before I even think about buying it.

First, it's a grey stock and not an Aussie. Secondly, check this out:

"Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920I 32GB Smartphone (Region Specific Unlocked, Black Sapphire)

This device is region-locked to North & South America, but is still carrier-unlocked and may be used with any GSM carrier within North or South America that uses a frequency or band that this device supports. A SIM card and service plan must be purchased separately. This device's frequencies can be found in the product Specifications under Cellular Network. Your carrier's available frequencies may be found in the links below."

          http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1152584-REG/samsung_g9…

From other sites it seems it works here but since it's grey product I wouldn't go anywhere near it, but if you wanna take the risk then good luck.

          Edit:

From the third comment in this AndroidCentral thread the poster said it also works in Australia so if grey import isn't a big issue for you then you're good to go:

          http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s6/521805-un…

  • papal just refunded my transactions for 3 items from different sellers. No history of these transactions in my ebay too. Anyone else have this problem?

    • I got refunded too once but just for 1 item. The problem was I didn't change to the right money source before paying.
That damn paypal btw, just can't make it remember my default card.

    • +1

Yes, I have exact same problem. Don't bother wasting your time with eBay, they treat you like an idiot. I even offered to supply the order summary page etc. they just kept telling me I made no purchases.

To clarify: All my transactions are refunded in PayPal and do not show at all in eBay (one purchase, from five sellers, just under $2000 before discount). There is more than sufficient funds on my credit card and spoke with bank who said they did not cancel the transactions and transactions never actually showed at hitting my credit card at all (if that makes sense).

    • Yep, changed payment source to card instead of bank in Paypal and it worked. Paypal instantly refunded the transactions but no record in eBay

  • Got Nikon D3300 from TGG. Got confirmation email from the seller and there is info that my order will be processed via "Glenella" store. However when I try to claim 100$ cashback from Nikon site there's no such store in the list. How can I claim my cashback?

    • I'd contact Nikkon support. Ask if you can just list a different store in the area after double checking they don't have that store as being in a neighbouring suburb. Alternatively if they have a PDF copy of the form, fill it out in writing and send that in instead of using the site.

    • +4

Is there an option for 'Other', or something like that where you have to put the place of purchase? I bought mine back in November from TGG for a price match, but my store was listed, though some people had similar issue as yours and couple of people mentioned that 'Other' option. See if you can find that there and if there isn't, or it doesn't work for you, then call TGG and tell them what's up.

      EDIT

Yo, I've just Googled the store you mentioned (yeah, I am that bored) and it's likely that store is in Mackay. Look for that one in the Nikon store location. Here is the Mackay TGG store link:

      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/mackay

      Hope that's the one you're after. :)

      • Yay! Makay is in the list. TY!

I'm after a Garmin Vivofit 1/2 and a Surface Pro 3/4. Anyone want to help me out with the best deals for them? Cheers.

  • Ended up buying boring items that I would have bought without the discount, and saved about $80! If it helps anyone else:
    * Protein powder
    * Vacuum bags
    * Pet flea and worming medication

    • +24

That protein powder must have some bad side effects

    • Which protein powder did you buy? Any good deals?

    • Which flea and worming treatment did you purchase? :)

US itunes email cards if anyone is interested:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251678617203

not the bargain it used to be after:
    A. apple got hauled in front of the senate to explain why they overcharge Australian customers, and
    B. the exchange rate not being as favourable

beatles box set sells on AU itunes for 200, US itunes 120.

taking exchange rate and this 19% off into account- you end up paying 133ish which is a decent saving over the AU store.
CD set sells in JB for 240.

    • +4

On top of that, they barely pay any tax here in Australia!

  • Check this for portable HDD deals.

    • That deal is unpublished for insufficient quantity.

  • +2

Why would retailers jack up prices or pull stock?
Don't they get the same amount of money at the end? The only difference is eBay top up the 15%?

    • +1

I wondered this too. Can only be to make more money themselves.

    • +3

Yes, they get the same amount of money in the end.

      Retailers = Greedy

  • +4

Wish this was $100 minimum. I would have bought something already. EBay is getting greedy wants ppl to spend $150+.

    No thanks

    • Even with the $150+ people (at least those who were in the market for stuff they really needed) could have saved some money. Now you hear all kinds of dodgy stories of businesses either inflating the original prices of some of their products, or even in some cases, removing certain highly sought after products off the site. Greedy b a s t a r d s!

      • I don't get it - the net result to them is the same as eBay top up the 15%, the only difference is we pay less; the retailer gets the same.

They are hurting their sales by removing sort after goods as now they would be flying off the shelves.

        • +2

I am not sure what their reasoning for doing this is, but someone was saying that they do it because they believe this discount deal will have negative affect on their selling of the products when the deal is over, or something like that.

        • @AussieDaddy:

"Nah man, don't buy that XXXX. It's been 15% cheaper."

"Nah man, you won't sell that XXXX for $850 used just because you bought it a month ago for $1000 and hardly used it. It's been as low as $850 brand new."

Does that give you an idea how these deals may devalue goods?

        • @syousef: It indeed does. I bought my very first entry-level DLSR camera, Nikon D3300 with the kit lens, back in November for $297 after $100 cashback. Ever since whenever I see it on a site advertised for a price higher than that, I internally shake my head.

Also after that so-called "sale" DSE had awhile ago, I heard all kinds of insanely cheap decent cameras (one I still regret to miss out was Canon 7D mark ii) for as low as a third of their market prices. So yeah, these kinds of "deals" may leave some bitter taste in both consumers (well, unless you won a deal lol), as well as the businesses' mouths, specially if you had the thought of one day to sell your gear and upgrade.

        • +1

          @AussieDaddy:

I would have loved the 7DMk2 or 70D at the prices they went for. C'est la vie.

        • +1

@syousef: Couple of people got the 7DMk2 with a lens for less than a grand, and Canon had like $200 cashback back then. I called a store in my city that day and was told there was just one store that had few of them left. I rushed off from the house and when I got there the guy at the checkout told me they were all gone (though I could see from his eyes he was lying). I almost cried, dude. :x

I went back there the next day and they still had 2 70Ds with the kit lens for almost a grand (it was $980 or something) and Canon was giving back a hundred or hundred and fifty cashback, but since I missed out the 7D Mark ii, I just left.

        • @AussieDaddy:

Oh well it's not a bargain if it's not available, whether that be because of dodgy staff or sold out hardly matters at all. Money stays in your bank account for next time…

        • +1

@syousef: Better way to look at it, I guess. Ta

  • Can anyone suggest a simple to use color printer? My (elderly) parents need one for wireless printing from their ipad (ipad 3).

  • I'm after a good Android phone that has epic battery life. Doesn't need all the bells and whistles, smaller screen preferred (<5") Any ideas?

    • +2

Sony xperia Z5C. Stamina mode is the shizz.

      • I currently have a Z1C, very unimpressed with battery life so far, same with Z1. Had a T2 Ultra which was amazing battery life, but screen was too big. I'm looking basically for an MP3 player so z1c is a little pricey for that ;)

        • +1

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171731018294

Just bought the Z3 Compact, awesome phone and a little bit cheaper than the Z5 (which is amazing). Mine was $410 posted. WICKED DEAL!

        • Z3 compact and Z5 compact have much better battery life than the Z1 compact.

I have the Z3c, and it has the Snapdragon 801 processor which uses a lot less battery than other processors. Plus, the battery is huge, at 2600mah, for a 4.6" screen. The 5" screen Samsung phones only have 2600mAh batteries (S5 excluded).

I can get 2 days from mine sometimes, and that's with no power saving options selected.

      • Settled on a Moto X Play. Sadly I forgot to use cashrewards :(

        • You said <5" screen preferred. Moto X Play = 5.5".
          :S

        • @Josh81: I didn't find any (agreeable) options in the sub 5" screen selection so I widened my search. The 3630mah battery was very appealing.

  • About eBay's TCs - "4. Multiple items may be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction)." Is that from the same seller? Or it can be different seller, and as long as the total reaches $150 to get the 15%? Thanks in advance.

    • Can be different sellers as long as it's the same currency and through the .au site

      • Cheers.

  • Picked up the Huawei Watch,Thanks OP! Saved me $40 from their in-store sale price.

    • Which store did you purchase from?

      • Ended up with MobileCiti, I rang Wireless1 and ask if I could pick it up from their shop after I do Buy it now and was told I can't since payment needs to clear blan blah blah so need to wait next day or so. Rang Mobileciti and was told not a problem as long as I bring a copy of my Paypal confirmation and Drivers license so they can confirm identity, so I got it within an hour after I did buy it now.
