If you're going to fork out for a pyro oven, you will probably want to look at a larger oven than 600mm. 750mm or 900mm all the way, IMO.

  • Still $1929 in SA

    • And WA

      • And VIC.

  • Masters % off usually excludes appliances. Can you confirm FRESH10 works with an oven?

    • No it doesn't. I was about to post the same.

  • $1286… coupon doesnt work, wont go cheaper.

Available ACT (Majura) at time of post.

The term of self cleaning is just for marketing crap

    Facts are:
    1. We are the one who will clean the ash
    2. To do the "self clean" the oven is set to 500 C for several hours
good luck on your electric bill

    • Exactly right mate.

Its not hard to keep an oven clean, but even when you need to clean it spotless (like once or twice a year), those oven foamers work great.

Take the shelves outside on the backyard, spray, come back in 10min and rinse with garden hose, no scrubbing, very easy to do. Then repeat for the other side. While you are waiting for the shelves, do the oven. In like 20min, the oven is spotless.

I've never unsderstood people raving about pyroletic functions of ovens. Expensive to run, takes hours to do, and you still need to clean it afterwards anyway!

Spend the extra money on a better functioning oven, or better features, or bigger size (if you need it).

      • Serious question - but how does your grass fare after hosing oven cleaner off?

        • It's only on there for 10-15min, and plenty of water to dilute it when washing it away then it's fine. Doesnt die or anything :). Never had an issue… and I'm a lawn freak.

      As to #2:

"However, the high temperature pyrolytic cleaning cycle does use more energy than everyday cooking. We’ve estimated that each pyrolytic cleaning cycle should use approximately $1 worth of electricity – much less than the price of an average can of oven cleaner."

Your comment is a waste of space. By my own calculations the above quote stacks up:

Various sites online have pyro ovens using 3.1kW for a 1.5 to 2 hour cycle. That equals max usage of 6.1kW, even assuming the thermostat doesn't stop the element (unlikely)…. 24.46c/kWh ATM on Tarriff 11 in Qld x 6.1… The claim stacks up.

This PDF has an oven using only 2.6kW for pyro function - http://www.andico.com.au/serv2-pdf/9880018600bk.pdf

        • @kipps: be sure to install an externally ventilating extraction fan else when you open the oven up your house will be filled with a terrible acrid smell.

The point of self cleaning is not necessary to make it easier, but a lot of people prefer it over using chemicals. After all, the chemicals that people use to clean their oven are toxic. Then the remains of these chemicals you ingest when cooking food.

Also the cost of self cleaning using Pyroltic is actually less than having to purchase quality chemicals.

You have a choice to use the Pyrolytic feauture. So good luck on your bill if you don't use it :)
33.3% off. crikey. 41.5% off from HV

I'm tempted but so such a device for the kitchen, don't buy online for the sake of 33.3%, go in store and get hands on with it.

Thank you to the OP for doing the finger work on the store availability and information.
