Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 3 PC 12 Month License - $8 (Email Key) @ SaveOnIT

1110

Hi Guys, just received an email form SaveonIT about this great bargain.

For those that aren't familiar, Kaspersky is an absolutely top-class consumer grade Anti Virus.

At this price, for 3 PC's, it's an absolute steal.

Limited to 3 per customer.

Expires 23/12/15

SaveOnIT are a great vendor too. I've ordered dozens of keys from them and never had any issues.

Check out their other Kaspersky versions/prices while you are there. They also have single user licenses of Kaspersky Total Security ( more internet banking & other features than Internet security) for $8 ea

Edit: I have spoken to a rep from SaveOnIT and have confirmed that this IS a 2016 key.

Re Payment - Direct deposit incurs no fee, whilst other payment methods will incur a $0.16 transaction fee.

Please add 16 cents. All payment methods incur a 2% charge.

    • +3

Now that's the OzBargain mantra ;)

    • +2

Thank for pointing that out. Must have been a recent introduction by them. Updated :)

    • +1

I'm seeing a direct deposit option which doesn't incur the surcharge… so $8 would be the correct price?

      • Must have clicked too quick as I only saw credit options for payment.

  • Clarification is needed when you go to the site it states 2015 your headline states 2016

    • +2

The license key from 2015 works for the latest 2016 version release. Download the KIS 2016 installer file then use the supplied license key on it.

      http://products.kaspersky-labs.com/products/english/homeuser…

Basically the previous version license key has free upgrade rights to the latest version release so long as the license subscription hadn't expired.

      • So then the headline should state 2015 not 2016

        • +4

The license key can be used on the KIS 2016 which is why 2016 is in the title. Why use the old 2015 version when you can use the latest 2016 release with this license key even though it was originally a 2015 license key. As i said the previous version license key has automatic upgrade right for use on the 2016 version. Just insert the license key into KIS 2016 and it's immediately 12 month licensed for KIS 2016.

        • Because your actually purchasing the 2015 key NOT the 2016 Key, even though you can still use it. I have had one instance in the past purchasing a last years key that would not work with the following years version and it was with Kaspersky.

maybe to be correct the title should say 2015 key (can be used with 2016 version) just follow sites policy for correctly describing products

        • @drwau: So what exactly is the difference between 2016 and 2015 one? I might have to reinstall KIS to 2016 model if it is significant.

        • @Oversimplified:

The usual things you would expect. New Interface/UI, some bug fixes etc.

The main thing is the Interface (improved quite a bit In my opinion) and support for Windows 10.

    • +1

Thanks for pointing that out also. As Holly has said, it won't really matter all that much, as all Kaspersky licenses have minimum of 1 version leeway both ways (ie Kasp 2015 license can be used for both 2014 and 2016 versions)

I've send an email to SaveOnIT to clarify exactly which version it is. Email says it is 2016, Title on website says 2016, but picture and description say 2016. I suspect they may have just copied across the picture and description from the old 2015 listing on their website. I'll update it as soon as I get a reply from them.

Edit: I have contacted SaveOnIT. They have informed that this IS 100% a 2016 key

  • Does this include MAC or is it just Windows?

  • Just a quick question. These keys are emailed to you right? If so how long after paypal confirmation does it take to get the keys?

    • Yes. All orders I have made have made have been emailed within 24 hours.

      • I should think it should arrive in a few minutes during business hours.

        • -1

Or any other hours. Seeing as compootas are doin it.

        • Still waiting 18 hrs later…

  • Thinking about getting one, does it do any better job than Avast?

  • Can you buy a few or each key purchased will expire at certain date?

    • Yes, you can purchase up to 3.

      I'm not sure about expiry.

At my last place of employment we purchased huge batches of keys (2-300+) and used them over the course of 12 months+

So if there is an expiry, it's a long one.

The 12 month license expires 12 months from when the Key is first activated. To get the most out of your keys you should install on all 3 PC's at the same time.

    • Want to know this as well… still got 6 months left on my current key.

  • +4

    Great deal OP.

For those in doubt, Kaspersky's been my goto security/anti-virus program for a number of years now. It always rates highly when compared against similar programs. Never had any virus slip through the net since I've had it installed.

    For $8 for 3 PCs, it's a bargain.

    • +1

      It is yeah.

I run a retail PC service business and it's my go-to AV as well. With some very minimal tweaking (setting protection level to high) It stops even the most install/click happy customers from re-infecting their PC's.

    • Question: Does this also try to "take over" your PC? If tried a few other internet security suites, and found them very intrusive. I've used Kaspersky AV (standalone) before and was happy with it.

      • +2

Are you referring to the constant pop-ups etc?

If so, then no. Kaspersky is good at just doing it's thing in the background, for the most part.

Notifications ie when you plug in a thumb drive are also highly configurable.

        • Not just pop-ups. I mean add-ons in browsers, e-mail clients & file managers, installing password managers, "tune-up" & backup utilities, parental controls etc. etc.

        • +2

          @LoungeLizard:

          Ah ok.

It does have an add-on in browsers, but in my experience it's nowhere near as annoying and intrusive as add-ons from other programs like Avast/AVG etc.

This is one of the major reasons why I use and recommend Kaspersky. The interface is well designed and easy to navigate, and isn't full of unnecessary components like "tune-up" utilities that serve no function.

      • Not really, but I guess that's subjective.

For me, it only pops up every now and then (usually by blocking a webpage which is/could be harmful. You do have the option of ignoring the warning and proceeding though.)

Much better than other programs such as McAfee, Norton etc.

  • Damn. Just bought the 1 pc key for $8 the other day from these guys. Key was emailed within half hr.

    • You can never have too many keys ;)

Especially with Christmas coming around, would be a great gift for a techy family member ;)

      • +2

Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' more than an Internet Security key

  • +4

Just be careful, when you activate the first key, it activates the 365 day timer for all 3 licenses.

  • sorry guys… it might sound very stupid but i am not very tech-savvy. It says Internet Security.. is that something you get on top on your normal anti-virus? or is that THE anti-virus program?

    • +2

No problem, not everyone is a super nerd like some of us :p

Internet Security is THE anti-virus program.

The name dictated the level/features of the program.

If I recall correctly, the base model is Anti-virus, Internet Security is the next one up, then Total security. Anti-virus is the cheapest, and has the least amount of features/protection

      • thanks mate. totally makes sense!

  • I used to use Kaspersky for 6 years, until I had two issues with company computers.
    1. It messed with the USB MTP driver so unable to connect phones/cameras to USB. Affected 30 computers.
    2. Corrupted/dodgy update broke something in Windows which restarted the computer after being logged into Windows for 1 minute. Affected 40 computers - this was a very bad day.
Lastly, wary of suspicious business practices, hacking other AV companies and stealing virus info from other AV companies.

Sophos seems to be okay for now, running on 500 computers no issues yet.
Free Avira seems to be good too for home PCs.

    • +1

Yep, even the best AV's have problems. Like any software!

For me the main problems have been A) the 2015 version of Internet security bugging out with licensing/activation and requiring re-entry of the license key

      B) An update for 2016 copying itself over and over to fill 150GB+ of the HDD.

I've seen FAR more issue with Avira. We used it at my workplace 3-4 year back when it was in it's prime-time. It lets sooo many infections through it wasn't funny.

      • Avira, ouch.

      • Like any software!

Er .. I do not experience problems with the majority of applications I run.

Kaspersky is good… but no better than products like Avira which has a free version.

I currently have a paid kaspersky on my laptop but use Avira on my 2x desktops.

  • +2

Nice and good timing. My AVG has been expired for a week and I have been watching ozbargain for a ozbargain of Anti-virus software.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks OP, with 2 teenage boys in the house both with PCs on my wifi this should see the whole house sorted with virus protection for the next year!!

    • No problem. Make sure to go into settings > Scan and turn the security level up to high for maximum protection :)

  • I have been using kaspersky since version 1.3? when it had a grey DOS GUI, this was around 1997.

It has always without fail been at the top or very near the top in independent detection tests.

The activation codes are region locked so do not try to activate it outside of australia/new zealand.

I reckon these are/maybe OEM? ……..not full retail.

Also ensure all remnants of previous anti virus etc programs are 100% removed prior to installing kaspersky

  • I ordered 3 got only 1 key…

    • Shoot SaveOnIT an email or speak to one of their reps on live chat.

Sometimes the keys can take up to 24 hours to arrive.

I would assume they are getting hammered with sales at the moment. I'm sure they will turn up soon :)

  • +1

How legit these keys are? 3-4 times cheaper than official

    • +1

I have ordered for the last two years from this company and no problem to date.

    • +1

2 Legit. The reason they are cheap is
      1) OEM/Volume license keys - no physical box/postage or logistics involved at any stage of their sale. All done electronically.
      2) SaveOnIT are offering a great price!
      3) Official (ie Kaspersky website) is HORRENDOUSLY overpriced. Literally THE most expensive place to purchase. Full RRP is for suckers!

    • +1

Legit, antivirus has an unbelievably low cost price.

  • Will this work for a Windows 10 laptop?

      Yes read this

      Read this carefully:

      • Cheers for the links. This is for a new laptop with Windows 10 already pre-installed, no need to upgrade. So with this 2016 key I should have no problems, right?

        • +1

Yep I think the rule for activation codes is 1 year back and 2 years forward.

So use on 2016 version then use on 2017 and 2018 [if code lasts that long.. 2 years or whatever]

2016 code can also be used on 2015 version

Windows 10 should only use 2016 program version.

        • Yes, this key will work fine. Just make sure you download the installer for 2016. Previous versions will not install on Win 10

      • I've never run into any trouble myself.

The kaspersky installer has a pre-check for other installed AV software and forces you to remove it before installation anyway.

Probably the only exception would be Nortons - which you should run the NRT (Norton's removal tool)

  • Paypal?

Thanks. Bought one for $8.16 AUD. I think this is worth it. I usually KAT my Internet Security ;-)

  • Bought one 2 hours ago, still waiting for key.

    • +2

Send them an email, very fast response, I got all my Keys… great deal this is !

      • thanks, did live chat and received keys straight away

  • Excellent! Been hanging out for some bargain Kaspersky Keys

  • Cheers OP bought it!

  • Bought a key, cheers

  • +1

Cheers, shawnsmaggot! Have been looking at getting Avast but looks like K'sky is a much better choice.

  • +1

    Thanks buddy!

Kaspersky is the best anitivirus program of all time.

Just order two set of KIS keys for when my current key expires.

  • Price is showing as $12.10. Obviously due to selling out?

  • *** SOLD OUT - New shipment due tomorrow - Please check again **

  • +2

Thank you, this deal has come at perfect timing. I had a live chat with Gavin from Saveonit and he said new keys will be in tomorrow afternoon at same price of $8.

    • Excellent, saves me the trouble.

I'm glad this turned out to be so popular :)

      • Just missed out as I was installing their 1 month free trial.
        Will wait till tomorrow, cheers

Would like some input, after installing the free trial I now cant open the AFL website.
It keeps crashing and saying Aw snap! Something went wrong….?

        • That's weird, haven't seen that "aw snap!" message before :3

is there any mention of Kaspersky anywhere in the browser when this happens?

Might be worth disabling the Kaspersky Plug-in/add-on in your browser and see if that solves the problem.

        • @shawnsmaggot:

Nope no mention of Kaspersky, using a different browser on the same site works though. Has problems when I use Chrome. Removed the plugin and still the same issue, only happened after installing Kaspersky.

Do you know how to get the Kaspersky plugin back after removing it?

Also noticed that sites such as KFC and Macas are labelled unknown site and not safe lol

        • @Madaaara:

Ah yes, a quick google search refreshed my memory.

The "aw snap! something went wrong" is the generic Chrome error message. Probably just coincidence that it started happening after Kaspersky was installed.

Try deleting the cache/cookies in Chrome.

With KFC and Maccas sites - is that also in Chrome? also, does it stop you from viewing the sites all together?

What version of Kaspersky is your trial?

        • @shawnsmaggot:

Yeah tried that, oh well, its only for some sites. The majority have no issues

KFC and Macas sites show up as 'unknown site' for all browsers but it doesnt stop me from viewing them. Just doesnt show up as safe with the little green Kaspersky icon, its grey instead

Im using the Kaspersky Internet Security 30 day trial

        • @Madaaara:

Hmm..My guess is that it would be a Java related issue. Chrome no longer supports Java fully (stupid idea by Google).

I'd suggest just using Firefox as your main browser.

Wouldn't worry too much about the Kaspersky "safe" icon. Doesn't really mean a whole lot to be honest.

  • After all this I completely forgot to pay for the 3 keys that were sitting in my cart all day >.<

    • oops…Hopefully there will be enough keys for all of us tomorrow.

  • It's gone up to $12.10 by the looks of things? Also, says sold out now.

    • I believe that may be a holding price until they re-stock tomorrow. Hopefully!
