  Good price but I just had a Seagate fail on me… not sure if I should bite in case history repeats.

  I'm not trying to scare people here, I had Seagate external HDD (3.5 desktop) fail on me as well. Seagate replaced it as it was under warranty but still lost my DATA.
  However, I also have an internal Seagate 3.5 which works fine

      Mine was a 1.5tb, 5 year old drive - which is a shame as I have a 5 year part replacement plan (buy new gear every 5 years) - had I been a bit quicker I would have already purchased a new one and transferred the data across. Dammit.
      Backup - Backup - Backup.
      Thankfully all the important stuff was backed up but the rest is just damn annoying to have lost.

      Mine was 5TB, less than one year old. this can happen to any HDD I guess. so, as noelstewartx said, Backup - Backup - Backup.

  So this is a different type of drive despite having the same sticker colouring as the 8tb archive one?
