    Shipping kills it

    • +3

      It's already dead.

      • +1

It's just an add-on to your shopping cart.

  • +2

You need a title with a summary and pricing. The word "skeleton" means nothing.

    • +1

i was hoping for a skeleton it'd have made a great christmas present :(

      • Haha, sorry about that. I just updated it.

  • +3

I really don't see a deal here. It seems more like you just want free advertising.

    • A free caulking gun?

      • +3

Nothing free about it if we need to buy something.

        • -1

Well, it usually costs $4 (and that's already a sale price) and we will give it to you for $0 with a purchase of something else in our store.

        • +1

@Paint Access: I'm all for a free item, but anyone can get the gun delivered from your own ebay for $10.20 (with 10% off ebay right now)

It looks a lot like the price of the "free" gun is being covered within the shipping costs on your site.

        • -1

Thanks for pointing that out. That ebay deal is pretty good if you want only the caulking gun. Our store deal is just a free gun on top of whatever else you would want.
And our shipping prices are flat rates. $12 to anywhere in NSW, $14 for QLD, etc etc.

Long story short. Yes, if you are only interested in the free gun then this deal isn't that great since we sell it on ebay for less shipping (which I am adjusting right now, we def do not sell worldwide). But again, this is just something nice we wanted to offer for our Online Store buyers (not ebay buyers).

  • +1

A minimalist title if I've ever seen one!

  • +2

No deal. Rather pick one at from Bunnings.

  • +2

A free caulking gun with any purchase is good I suppose, if you were already planning to buy something from your store, and you wanted a caulking gun.

Ie, in order for this to actually be a good deal, I feel like you need to demonstrate why we'd want to buy something else from your store that, shipping included, would be cheaper and easier than just going to Bunnings or similar.

    • I see your point. I've been trying to understand why people are saying that this isn't a deal. It's a free caulking gun but only if you will purchase something else from our store. We sell paint accessories so if you are looking for that sort of things.

      • +2

The cost of the other things you sell covers the price of the "free" chalking gun.

        • Please explain. We have many other deals and we give discounts for ordering bulk.

        • +1

          @Paint Access
I'm not a tradie so I don't need bulk. Also tradies prefers Bunnings as they can get cheap nasty stuff from there to keep the cost of materials down and profit high.

        • +1

Thank you ca6leguy, but since you are not a tradie please don't tell me what tradies prefer.

        • @Paint Access: Seems like you have offered half a deal. Half the deal is a free caulking gun with purchase.

To make it a full deal, there would need to be something else that's a good price. Can't you point out even one thing that can make the caulking gun plus whatever else you sell on your store that together is a good deal? Because nobody is getting a free caulking gun unless it's together with something else.

Edit: I just read in a later comment that the OP is planning to post some of the deals.

        • I've spelled out some of the specials and a link for a couple more.

        • @Paint Access: He could be a tradie who bought these cables lol

Mate its not free because you have to pay for shipping. - Please write that you have to pay $12-14 shipping costs.

    • Mate, you are not buying the caulking gun. You are buying something else and this is just an add-on to your shopping cart for a caulking gun.

      • +2

I beg your pardon Paint Access. Your description was extremely deceptive (originally), hence my suggestion to place the shipping costs onto the subject line to avoid people misinterpreting the deal.
With a list of peoples responses with the same misunderstanding is just the evidence that the marketing ploy your playing at was successful.
Then I scroll down and see your responses to other users posts.
        - Terrible customer experience.

        • -2

You have to be a customer first to be able to claim terrible customer experience.
I've been trying to improve/adjust this ad since I posted it earlier today because I listened to everyone's feedback. I would call that super responsive customer experience. But some people just want to be nasty, you included.

        • +1

          @Paint Access:
Whether I'm a paying customer or not, I'm part of the general public, and from a servicing perspective. EVERYONE IS A CUSTOMER - Especially if they post something regarding your store.
Everyone and anyone you speak to is a potential buyer, you classing people who haven't bought your goods, a non customer is a clear indication of your extremely terrible customer service.
If you believe my constructive feedback is nasty, I'd suggest you review other users responses, in conjunction with you own. Even enticing this debate is enough to call you out for providing terrible customer experience. - Not even Utilities and Telecommunication companies respond to customers/public/consumers like you do.
Also to note, being responsive is nothing to do with the experience you provide with your responses.
I come from a serving background and I can say you need training on how to brand yourself.
          - Good luck with your business.

          @Moonyang:

Excellent response. I would have said the same.

Went to buy something and got smashed with $14 shipping charge. If we need to purchase something to get this free gun you should have disclosed this outrageous delivery fee as part of the order. Your description says you're not charhig a delivery fee or some gobbledygook.

    • I've updated the ad to address your concern.

      • -3

Wasted my time, and looking at the previous listing you wasted peoples time there too. And still no examples of a bargain.

        • +3

If you cared enough to read our delivery policy, you'd know that we also FREE in-store pick up. But I guess being rude is easier than reading carefully.

  • +4

I am not sure why people are talking about the shipping cost. When you buy some items and pay $x plus $x shipping, in the package you will will get a free caulk gun,
You dont pay an extra $20 shipping on top.
    Thats how I read it.
    Deal.

    • You are absolutely right.

      • +1

maybe you need to re-word it.

Your deal is like, say, a mobile phone and you get a free Bluetooth speaker with it.

        • +1

"Get a Fineline "Skeleton" Smooth Hex Caulking Gun for no extra charge with any purchase!"

I thought this title would be explanatory enough. Buy something from us, and get a free caulking gun. Maybe I should change the title to just that.

        • +1

          @Paint Access:
Thats fine, I think its the words underneath thats the problem, delivery etc.
I asked a mod if they can help reword it.

Maybe just a simple, Buy any item in our store and get a free caulk gun. (orders have Delivery around $14 or free instore pick up.)
And list one item that you think is a great deal.

I dont get why everyone is so agro about it.

        • +1

Thanks PVA. The mods were quick to update my title. I will list some of our monthly specials we currently have going on.

  • +5

I have you a +1, as it's painful reading the silly comments by the trolls trying to egg you on.

I imagine my comment will be negged anyway.

Remember folks you only have 5 negs a day, better save them.

    • Thanks! I gave you a +1 as well. I'll be more wary of the trolls from now on.

      • You have to word it so there are no loops holes they can dig into.

Even skilled Lawyers are taken down by the Internet.

  • +1

Your 'special' price on roller sleeves isn't that great. A quick search found https://m.masters.com.au/product/100954979/oldfields-pro-ser…

Not only cheaper per sleeve but also regularly have 10% off.

    • Thanks for pointing that out. I don't always have the time to price compare but you just did that for me. I'll make sure to adjust.
I'd also like to point out also that their $9 shipping is 3-10 business days. We offer next day shipping for a little bit more. ($55 on Master's for next day truck delivery, very expensive)

      • +1

I was comparing oldfields to oldfields. Price still seems the same. Personally a free gap gun wouldn't entice me to buy anything as a painter. Perhaps learn from the comments on here today. I look forward to your next bargain!

  • +1

gee tough crowd in here….feel sorry for you rep! :P

    • +2

Ozbargain crowd is the toughest there is! :)

  • +1

I really wouldn't call this a deal… it's only worth $4 on the OP's site. You would have to be spending $40 excluding shipping just to "save" 10% that comes in a caulking gun. Hardly a deal. Free shipping would have been better.

    • +1

I'm sorry you don't like the deal. It's not supposed to be this GRAND deal. It's just a little something extra for our customer who are buying from us anyway.
But I will take note of everyone's reaction in here today and keep these kinds of deal announcements limited to our own website.
