Might as well buy one as an example of how not to spec a PC, no matter how cheap ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is happening for all these 2GB/32GB laptops hitting the market? I mean, are they usable at all?

    Are they patience training devices?

    • I don't think it would be very good in a windows laptop. My chromebook has 2gb/16gb and while the lack of ram does get frustrating a bit when I'm trying to use more than five tabs the lack of space has never really bothered me. You can't install programmes and for storing other things it has a SDXC slot. That coupled with the extra google drive storage you get makes it pretty easy.

    • pretty much! i wouldnt want anything under 4GB's .. and the mobile (Atom) Celeron N2840 is crap VS a (haswel) based celeron

They are response to Chromebooks. For casual users. Similar price and hardware but you get windows OS. With Windows OS there are more possibilities.
But just like Chromebooks, these are targeted towards casual users who need internet browser, few social apps and games.

I presume the 32GB hard drive is an SSD? Interesting compromise…

eMMC, in line with price point

  • 32 GB harddrive - and Windows 10 takes 16GB.

This laptop is interesting - it has an empty standard 2.5in drive bay with dead easy access - just one screw which you don't need again as the door clips into place securely. I took the Ubuntu 256GB SSD out of my desktop and popped it straight into the bay. Booted up Ubuntu with no problems - wifi, multitouch pad, video and audio all ok - just needed to change a couple of bios settings in the boot section. The Windows install on the 32GB drive is still intact.
