  Seems like a solid deal. The processor should easily handle 1080p. Put kodi on this and you've got a pretty good htpc.

  Looks like a great unit, but a fair few reviews state they just die after a while.
  Tempted to buy this for my dad but it could end up a PITA.

  My 2007 Imac just died, it was my network running bit torrent 24/7 as well as plex network for my chrome cast.

    I have this processor as my main home server.

    Kodi - flawless, hvec perfect
    Plex - transcodes 1080p easily
    Itunes- serves the whole house
    Bit torrent - of course

    It's waaay better then the rubbish Bay Trail celerons (2820, etc).

    Zotac zbox with this chip is cheaper than this Asus though…

  Thanks for the information regarding Plex. I really need to upgrade our setup but want something low power that will cope as a Plex server for a couple of years without spending a fortune.
