What's the logic of having a jug that can hold 2.4L, but only 1.4L is filtered?
If you need more than 1.4L of water, you're gonna have to sit there and wait for more to filter through. :(

That said, I guess it's a pretty rare use case where you'd need more than 1.4L of filtered water in a hurry…

I used to have one of these and we ended up filling it when walking past, then pouring the filtered water into a larger jug for storage.

  • I'll get this for a Christmas gift for family member that is hard to buy for

Thanks, needed one of these. Ok not the colour I'd generally choose, but as long as the water is filtered then all ok.
    Thanks OP

    • Yeah not keen on the colour but it's not for me so won't have to look at it…

Apart from this one being smaller (and different colour) is this exactly the same product? Thanks http://www.bunnings.com.au/brita-3-5l-marella-water-filter-j…

  • Seems the one that sparklyglo mentioned is a greater capacity and slightly cheaper, perhaps I can get an extra filter thrown in… No harm in asking

    Alborough any chance?

  • Me and my partner basically had the runs for a week and finally figured out it was the jug filter. Word of warning, do not leave it outside. Keep it in the fridge.

    • That's odd - we have one of the larger Marella XL jugs that we leave sitting on the kitchen bench year-round - we've done that for about 4-5 years and have never had any ill-effects from it. We use it for drinking water and also for filling our Tefal Quick Cup instant hot water dispenser (saves using a filter in the Tefal as well!). We recently bought a regular-sized Marella jug to keep in the fridge door for cold water during the summer months rather than filling a plastic container from the main jug.

What I like with Brita is that although there's a number of different jugs, they all use the same kind of filter, so if you have to replace one or buy another one (as we did), you can use the filters you already have.

      • There are a few accounts online of this happening. I have no idea of what causes it, but it definately had something to do with the filter.

You can get the XL for about the same price at Bunnings.

  • The XL one is way too big to fit in the fridge though, unless you don't mind it taking up shelf space. I guess that's why they've brought out a range of the narrower ones, which all fit in the fridge door.

@alborough Ok I went ahead and bought one but after ordering I have received no confirmation email or anything. Is this normal? How can I check the status of the order with no info?

    • Hi piggyfund…please could you check your Junkmail box, you should have received a confirmation email

      • Thanks - checked everywhere already? on average how long does it take for delivery in metro Melbourne?

  • It should get to Metro areas within a week - please call us on 1300 557 762 if you want us to send a copy of your email confirmation
