After 2 years, yes. If you search OzBargain, you'll find 2 people that unlock them for around $20 … both of them have been confirmed by multiple people (Bagman and Vivian).
According to an eBay seller, these are about the same dimensions (less than 0.2mm difference) as the Nokia Lumia 435. There is a ruggedised case in white for $2.99 and other colours for $3.99. I haven't personally confirmed that the cases will align the camera correctly, but this is one of those 1/2 soft, 1/2 hard cases - so it should have a little bit of play for 0.2mm :)
If anyone can confirm the 435 cases work on the 532, please reply to help others.
Why would you want a case on a $29 phone?
To protect it from damage :)
Aside from the fact that some people don't have endless funds to spend on new phones, there's also the inconvenience of damaging a phone and having to buy another one (downtime). Other people just like to keep their stuff in good condition no matter how much it costs.
I have just checked the BigW in Macarthur Centre (Brisbane CBD). Their current offer (as confirmed in their in-store catalog) is $39.50 or 50% off the original price of $79. Maybe the $29 deal is specific to the Chermside store only.
I quite like my 532. Battery life is a weakness but for $29 you could buy two phones and use the second for the battery. It doesn't need a case as it doesn't break when you drop it.
