If anyone is considering the 128GB MICROSDXC, I'd suggest paying $3 extra to get 80MB/s read speed:
    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/sandisk-ultra-128gb-mi…
The one in OP is the older slower version (48MB/s).

added . Thanks JonSnow. Winter is Coming !

Bit of a scam by Sandisk i think. I had one of the original 30MB/s 128gb's, bought an 80MB/s as an upgrade as it was cheap with one of the previous ebay codes, my old card benchmarked consistantly faster.

      • +1

I think we need to start a discussion about this. I have had poor performance from my 80MB/s 64GB recently purchased card.

I need to do some more testing, but it wouldn't even write at 20MB/s in a USB 3.0 card reader.

        • If branded memory cards are not performing as advertised and you bought it on eBay, chances are it is not genuine. Use h2testw to check its performance. If that test fails, or the performance is not up to par, return it to the seller, or Paypal dispute, or credit card chargeback.

        • @shump:

I should have made the qualifying statement.

It was purchased from Shopping Express, so I would assume it is genuine.

I will give h2testw a go and see what comes up.

        • Here are the results of a test:

          Sandisk Ultra 64GB UHS-I
          (Speed up to 80MB/s)
Warning: Only 5000 of 60887 MByte tested.
          Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
          Writing speed: 15.0 MByte/s
          Reading speed: 58.5 MByte/s
          H2testw v1.4

Clearly this is a long way from what would be expected, particularly on the writing speed.

        • @not a bargain: Are you able to try a known good card in the same reader and compare results?

        • @shump:

          Samsung EVO 32GB
Warning: Only 5000 of 30516 MByte tested.
          Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
          Writing speed: 18.9 MByte/s
          Reading speed: 32.6 MByte/s
          H2testw v1.4

Thus the Samsung EVO has a faster write speed.

          Card Reader Orico USB 3.0

          Product code: SDSQUNC-064G-GN6MA

I have been doing a bit more research and the write speeds seem similar to those reported by others on Amazon, so it looks like it just crap at write speeds. I was under the impression that it had write speeds closer to 30MB/s, but that appears to be the other model that looks very similar (UHS-3 I think). It is no wonder SanDisk don't quote the write speeds on their web site.

So doing nothing different to any other organisation really?

  • What does the Nuc come with? I assume I just need to add a hard drive yes?

    • +1

hard disk and ram is the minimum you will need internally.

      • Ahh, I see, thanks buddy!

        • +1

and OS as well in case you are thinking to get Windows.

        • @Gaggy:

Ahh yes, I was going to head to the Reddit windows swap thing, but I hear if you are a windows insider you can have windows 10 for free, they take feedback etc, but I couldn't care less, just wanna hock up a basic computer to the TV to stream the F1 and Cricket. Hopefully the low end celeron manages to work well. Thanks!

        • @Zylam Marex: Yea, for basic stuff it should be fine unless you expect it to stream 4k. If you are into gaming as well and want to stream, I would advise you to go for i5.

This is an old NUC, there is one with free OS ( due to OS installed on internal 32 GB MMC) and 2 GB RAM for approx $39X ish.

        • @Gaggy:

Ahh sweet, glad it will work well. Yea not going to be streaming the highend stuff, jjust the regular low quality streaming from sites LOL. I'm thinking of upgrading my main desktop sometime next year, definitely going to be looking at an i5, probably better to spend a little more on a GPU rather than get an i7.

Thanks for the help buddy!!! Hope you have a good one!!

        • @Zylam Marex: Overkill to go for i7 for a gaming PC. i5 with 8 GB RAM and a GPU is what you need. Would advise to go for a SSD for Operating system and 2200 rpm hdd for saving games.
Hope you got it as the NUC was showing out of stock, though you can add it to the card. Not sure if you can checkout. I will go for atleast an i3/i5 and then use it to stream some games as well in future to my big screen.

        • @shadowrukia:

Maybe I'm glad I held off then.

From my understanding the differences between the tournament edition and the one advertised is the fact that its a smaller keyboard, lacking the number pad?

        • @Themojorising: its wqay cheaper and not as good.
