      It's 1TB..?

        • +1

It's a decent price for a branded one? Temu ones are cheaper with cashback but unbranded and basically no warranty.

          • @Dyl: If you have kept an eye on the history price, you won't think it's decent

            • @Meteor Anarcom: I bought cheap Temu ones with 60% cashback instead (RAID1 so I'll take the risk), but this seems like a decent price for with warranty that you can actually claim

History on OzBargain is only for 2TB+ models, can't find any 1TB deals

              • +1

@Dyl: The same item was $80 only few days ago. See this comment below. Why don't you think about why there wasn't any 1TB deal? Simply because the price was not low enough to be a bargain. Even $69 NV2 1TB, $78 NV3 1TB were not a bargain, how come can this $87 P3Plus 1TB can be a bargain? And you'll need to wait a couple of months for the $5 gift card rebate. If it was $20 GC, it can barely be a bargain, but only barely. I know NV2 NV3 are crap, but this P3P is not better than those. SN580 1TB which is a much better drive was around only $65 from Centre Com eBay after 30% cashback less than a month ago. Even excluding the bank bonus of 10%, $74 is still $8 lower. We could get a much better product for a lower price.

  • +1

You should probably mention it’s the 1TB variant (before you get negged).

  • Probably a good idea to list the storage capacity in the title :)

  • Storage space in title please

  • +12

Sorry everyone!! Silly oversight, added 1TB to the title.

  • +2

How prices has gone up. I literally just bought the same drive from Centrecom on the 03/04 for $80.

  • +1

Very slow for the specs. Kingston NV3 is better and cheaper.

    • valid if you're running an OS on this, but otherwise (NAS etc).. there will be other bottlenecks first

      • +5

doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning…. surely that translates to price too?

      • It was $79 not long ago, anyway it is worth the $1 for a faster read and write

      • +2

Seems like Teamgroup's MP44L is better slightly for $1 more?

        • I got the MP44Q. Agree, its the better buy (accodring to Chat GPT anyways)

      • It's $81 at CPL

      • NV3 1TB is $88 on Amazon where 10% off GC and promo credit are applicable. Both are trash but NV3 is better trash

  • +8

Only rated for 220 TBW, Kingston NV3 1TB is faster and is rated for 320TBW for about the same price.

    • I actually look at TBWs. 220TBW is very low. It might be more than lifetime of most users but still very low.

Got a MSI M460 1TB with 600TBW. Had it for 4 months and done 7TB writes (HD Sentinel says). Use for OS drive plus apps / one drive. So 14TB write a year. Can't image 220TBW for people who are serious users.

  • +2

WD sn5000 might be better for similar price?

  • +6

Absolutely trash. Much worse than SN580 which was $75 recently.

Edit: This item is NOT Crucial PRO series, so you will get $5 voucher instead of $20

Even if you are too lucky, get a TLC version, its performance is still worse than many QLC drives when over half of the drive is occupied because of its catastrophic FTL.

  • I found CC advertised for $20 woolies GC buying any pro series product of crucial. Is this also eligible? How about p310? See the link: https://crucialpromos.com.au/giveaway/?utm_source=Centre+Com…

    • +1

      You would get $5

    • +1

See the top-left cornor of each image of the product. There is a "PRO SERIES" label if it is PRO. The products including a "PRO" are eligible.

      • +1

Thanks. Then go for T500 might be a better choice. There was T500 deals weeks ago but this one also looks competive.

        • +1

Yes, but still not good enough

    • +1

E100 has an astonishing TBW of 80. lmfao

  • +2

This is not a deal at all. OP might mistaken the promo because of the misleading advertising on the Centre Com page. It said "up to $20" and this product is only eligible for $5 GC rebate

You will NOT get a $20 GC but only $5, which makes this product even more expensive than its usual price around $80.

    • +1

I mentioned that you get a $5 voucher for this, but also $20 if you buy from the Pro range.

Apologies if it seemed misleading from the post!

      • -2

How did you think this as a deal if you knew that? This drive worths no more than $70

        • -1

Didn't neg you, but comparing different drives in a similar class, this price point looked good for the specs and cheaper than elsewhere from what I saw.

It suits my usecase just fine but naturally if you need something better then you'd be spending more. For me (and assuming others) this is a good deal.

          • +1

@mangobango: Comparing with SN580 and SN5000, P3 Plus is much worse valued even after the $5 GC rebate.

The specs of maximum sequential reading and writing don't mean anything.

This drive has almost the worst actual performance, stability and durability among PCIe Gen 4 drives.

If this $87 P3 Plus 1TB with $5 GC rebate can be a bargain, then $88 NV3 1TB at Amazon would be an even better bargain stacking with 10% off GC, but obviously it's not.

            • -1

              @Meteor Anarcom: Good to know.

I have had a few Crucial drives over the years that have been very reliable for me, and I don't use my PC super heavily so I'm not too fussed about a slight drop in performance compared to similar drives. I totally get that for large data moving and possibly video editing you may experience those bottlenecks/performance issues.

Also seemed to have heaps of 5 star user reviews so I'd say it's fine for a majority of users, but for power users yes you'd be looking more into the nitty gritty to get the absolute best of the best.

Seemed like a good deal to save a few $$ for a reliable brand and still more than meet my usecase, but definitely valid points.

              • +1

@mangobango: This drive is not reliable. Brand does not guarantee that you'll get reliable product. If you think so, you are simply wrong.

We're not looking for the best of the best. Just trying to help you to avoid the worst! Data are priceless.

This P3 Plus is literally the worst you could get around that price.

Edit: Another fact: this drive was $80 at Centre Com few days ago. See PC Part Picker(au.pcpartpicker.com).

It is so strange that so many people think this $87 with $5 GC rebate as a deal. I doubt there are some Crucial affiliated accounts

NV2 is only $75 now. If people only care about price, why don't we buy NV2 instead of this?

From any perspective, this $87 P3 Plus is not a bargain at all

  • Any deals on the 4TB I want to get some before up up the tariffs.

  • -3

What's f***ing going on here?! Please buy this crap ASAP, otherwise the tariff will make this trash even higher. Lmfao

    • How?

      • I don't know how people are still buying this crap even at this price. I just tried to find some reason for them to buy. Tired of pursuading them not to buy. Just let them go with it.

  • dramless model?

    • QLC DRAMless with Phison E21T crap

      • What would you recommend - 1 or 2TB as a boot drive for a new build

        • +1

$89 SN5000 1TB will be much better than this. The price of all SSDs has gone up comparing with 2 months ago. 2TB SN580 was lower than $160 but the $159 price has become exclusive.

If you have some 10% off Amazon GC, KC3000 2TB $199 on Amazon AU is also a good choice.

Sometimes 30% cashback on eBay, Big W, Everyday Market can bring us some real deals on M.2 SSDs. I used to buy KC3000 2TB on Everyday Market, it was only around $140 after cashback. Then they might find something wrong and now JW Computers has quit EM.

This drive is about less than half the speed of current gen 7200rpm HDDs, avoid at all cost.

Actual speed is ~100MB/s once you fill up ~200gb.

Beyond abysmal, something like a Crucial MX500 can sustain 400+ despite being SATA.

    https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/eBxmScxrvVfA9kas6EWxe8-970…

The bad news is that the native performance is extremely poor. Speeds drop down from 4.4 GBps to 100 MBps. We know that this flash is about as fast as Intel’s 144-layer QLC, that is up to 40 MBps per die, but the use of a massive cache forces the drive to bottleneck as it must free up capacity by moving data over to QLC.

    • That's kind of the issue with QLC though right? It's fast as long as it has cache once you write long enough the performance tanks but as a general gaming, boot drive there's not much of a downside, correct me if I'm wrong.

P310 is better, and only a bit more expensive. How much better in real-world terms IDK, modern drives are a black box to me.

  • Terrible Terrible Company, No Returns or Change of Mind

    Be very very careful

    • How is Change of Mind their problem?

      • +1

If the product is unopened the least you can do is allow an exchange.

Centrecom are Retail Criminals and should be avoided at all costs….unless you never plan to ask them for a return, warranty or any customer support

At the end of the day, you can make up your own mind

Personally I don’t think you should reward them for treating customers like that don’t matter

        • +1

I've had good experiences with them but I've heard and seen some pretty "less than ideal" things. Generally speaking, if it's a simple DOA or RMA situation I don't think they're that bad, but you're not getting great service. Going in buying a product or two that's generally hassle-free like an SSD I wouldn't have any issues if they were the cheapest. They ship free too.

          • +1

@TheFyrd: I think for small cheap items like this with free shipping it’s not too bad.

Wouldn’t go for any big ticket items from them for sure

            • @motion2082: Yeah, I prefer Scorptec tbh, unless it was massive savings I'd just spend a bit much to go with that. I've had pretty good experiences with PCCG too although a long time ago, found their RMA process painless, I lived closer at the time. There's a local Umart they have pretty good prices.
